Posting Guidelines

1. Posting Responsibily

Just a kind reminder to every1, please post responsibly.

Now, just what do I mean by that? In the recent past, there were members who flamed the living daylights out of some bike shops. Their claims, being unsubstantiated, led to these bike shops threatening legal action against them. These lawsuits, we're not only talking about the local stables (pardon the pun), but also shops across the causeway as well. Singaporean or not, you will possess no immunity if you flame bike shops across the causeway.

Also recently noticed a trend of posts against certain fast food joints. If claims are backed by solid evidence, by all means, please post and warn the world that chickens should deserve respect in death or the patties are filled with nutritious innards. If such claims are something forwarded to your inbox, discretion is advised if you want them to reappear on public forums. You might recall the case of NKF suing a blissfully ignorant lass for forwarding defamatory emails halfway round the world.

IP addresses are traceable. So are you. Be safe, not sorry.

2. Post-clockers

I haven't got a better term to label this group of people. They probably know who they are. I term them "post-clockers".

- They're the ones who open useless threads titled as somebody's nickname.

- They're the ones who counter-open threads titled as another post-clocker's nickname.

- They degenerate a proper thread into a TCSS thread.

- They go into a proper thread asking a stupid question.

- They go into a proper thread replying to a stupid question posted by another post-clocker with a stupid answer.

- They engage in an endless cycle of stupid questions and stupid answers in proper threads.

- They engage in an endless cycle of stupid questions and stupid answers in crap threads.

- Their post sometimes consist of only smiley faces.

- Their reply to post consisting of smiley faces with more smiley faces.

- They engage in an endless cycle of smiley faces postings in proper threads.

- They engage in an endless cycle of smiley faces postings in crap threads.

- They have no idea what private messaging is about.

- They show lack of consideration to other members of SBF who have to waste time looking through their useless postings in between proper postings.

- They waste valuable SBF resources and bandwidth by posting crap.

- They waste the moderators' time by trashing their nonsensical threads/postings.

- They find ways and means to push our limits and test their luck by seizing advantage of loopholes in SBF's policies.

You guys have been warned.

And warned again.

Any members deemed as post-clockers guilty of the above will be placed on moderation with immediate effect, without prior warning. That means every single thread/post by them will be previewed by moderators before being made available for public viewing.

3. Group Threads

We understand that there are many different cliques, groups, teams, clans, associations, gangs etc etc in SBF and we also understand that compelling everyone to chat only in existing TCSS threads can be a real autocracy.

After much deliberation, the Chatter Box team has decided to relax Clause 1(B) of Chatter Box Rules and Regulations.

Yes, you guys heard it right, opening of new TCSS threads will now be allowed. However please comply with the following simple procedures BEFORE doing so...

1) The prospective threadstarter to drop a PM to MiCmAsTa , ravenSP, Aie, Sh|nHwA- , or M|rac|e with the list of at least 8 persons who intend to chat regularly in the newly formed thread. Note that the mentioned 8 people will be required to make their first entry in the thread within 3 days. This is necessary to ensure that the 8 listed names are active chatters.

2) Include the proposed title of the thread, e.g. "Triangular Racing Team Members Fall in here!" etc.

3) Wait for our PM endorsing the thread.

4) Once you receive our reply, you can proceed to open the thread immediately.

Non-compliance of the above procedures will still result in the thread being closed. The moderating team will usually approve all new TCSS-thread requests, unless the listed members consist of hardcore post-clockers. Our turnover rate of approval will not exceed 2 days, so please be patient while we process your applications...

Wishing you a pleasant day ahead!

To be fair to all other genuine personal sales threads and users who have paid to advertise their services or wares in SBF, Garage Sales mods will not hesitate to remove any "private sales" threads WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE.

In simpler terms, to those so called "Private Sales" thread owners, you might NO LONGER receive a nice PM from us stating that we removed your thread.

Please DO NOT come and PM us why your thread is removed , why this and that. If you find that your thread has "disappeared" it means that your thread somehow has contravened the Garage Sales Act and has been removed.

The rules are VERY VERY CLEARLY stated in the "Garage Sale Act" and if you still somehow missed this bulletin or sticky thread, neither SBF nor its moderators will not be responsible for any damages.

We get many many PMs daily, and we are not obliged to reply to each and every PM.

Some good photo hosting sites include Photobucket and Imageshack.

8. Other Rules & Regulations

a) Excessive posts to "up the thread" is strictly prohibited. A general guideline will be not more than 2 times within a 24 hour period. Members found going around all over "upping" other members' threads may be penalised for post clocking.

c) Repeatedly opening new threads for the sale or search for same item. Repeated threads spotted will either be merged or trashed at moderator's discretion. Further spamming of threads will be awarded an infraction.

It's been observed that often, sales threads has been swamped by unconstructive and irresponsible comments and posts, i.e. attacks on the condition of the item, the price, "this shop has this price blah blah".

Garage Sales Guidelines

SELLER

- Each approved sale thread is owned by the seller and thus he/she has the right to post the information he deemed necessary and the price he/she deems appropriate. It is the seller's right to do so, even if the price or condition of the item does not justify each other.

- Please provide adequate details of the item(s) you have on sale. Details like: price, condition, specifications would be very useful. Pictures of the actual item will help you sell your item faster and with less fuss.

- It is strongly advised to refrain from posting prices in your topic title. Keep your thread topic title to be easy to read and comprehend. It will make it easier should you decide to revise your asking price.

- Titles like "Come in and take a look!" is highly discouraged. Doing so might have your thread title changed by moderators to make it more clear to other members.

BUYER

- It is the buyer's right to do his/her own homework and to do research on whether the item being sold is reasonable or justifiable. This means asking around for opinions, going to shops to check on current market prices or even meeting the seller in person to view the item.

- It is also the buyer's right to negotiate what would be a reasonable and justifiable price.

- It is NOT the buyer's or browser's right to post unconstructive or critical comments, especially if there is no intention of buying.

How are we to know you are not a bike shop under the disguise of a forum user and trying to guide buyers to your shop?

No one made you the "guardian" of the Garage Sales section. (If you really do have an issue with the thread, click on "report post" on the offending post for further action.)

None of the sellers are holding a gun at your heads and forcing you to buy the items on sale.

If the sale price is outrageous and yet there is a buyer, I can only say congrats to the seller and :goodluck: to the buyer for not doing his/her homework first.

- If you do not have any interest in the item or have no intention to buy the items advertised, leave it alone. If you are interested in the item, feel free to post enquiries in the post. Alternatively, you can contact the seller by private message (PM) or any other contacts the seller leaves behind.

With that in mind, this guideline is in immediate effect. All offenders will be dealt with accordingly.
