wah...550...Why wasn't he selling his bike when I was getting my bike the other time... :p

Same feeling here. Now I spend so much to fix my bike already. Quite depressed... Think I'll upgrade to 2a la... Get anew bike then won't get this shitty feeling...

you think its worth 1.6 its up to u. but not everyone think so. im saying it in a casual way, not insulting you. im sorry if u felt insulted. but its a very old bike. with coe ending very soon. even if its in pristine condition, im sure many would not buy because of the price ur asking.

cheers

Sad lah... Bought bike for $500, insurance + transfer + admin= $225?, 1st major cosmetic overhaul for safety reasons & extending useability of bike=$1080, 2nd overhaul for engine $285 + change rear hub bearing $20....

It's a sure lost if I sell...sigh...what to do...

Buyers have to 1st value the machine before they buy. If they wanna buy cheap, then wait for old uncle to sell off, (like i did) pay the overhauling. Tony paid. I reluctantly also have to pay. Anybody that buys a CG that comes along sure have to pay alot to restore.

Tony's bike is a restored bike therefore has a marked up value. You don't have to run around yourself to fix it.

If u want a nice old bike, u gotta respect the price la. How many old CG riders trust their bike enough to go up Malaysia?

U get your own, u'll know la. Sooner or later u'll pay to learn.

In the end its up to u. It's your money, it's his bike. Find another cheaper bike to buy.

If can't say nice things, don't say lah...

In the end, people see your bike, they know what bike it is. They see your touches. Respect you get. The sound of a old healthy CG engine. Priceless.

Many old ones scrapped already. Everytime I go to bike shop. The middle aged to old guys always give a look and have a smile on their face. Many of the older generation have ridden this workhorse and they never forget the feeling. Somehow the old bike mechanics always have one around also. Haha.

It's frustrating that it's not a fast bike, but it's one of the cheapest classic around.

U got money, go buy any other bike la, but you won't find a ready seller for the CG. Every CG somehow touches the heart no matter how broken it is. It's a painful thing to let go of the old girl. The usual reason is the wife, the leg pain cannot kickstart anymore or have other vehicle commitments, cannot maintain anymore etc.

i understand he's just quoting the price he think its right. but i honestly might only buy his bike for around 1-1.2k. i don't care about the cosmetics cause i intend to make a cafe racer. its just a project bike, so i rather look for one in working condition than one thats been restored to perfection and costing so much more and still have to change this and that to suit my wants. its just not worth it in my shoes. i made that remark in the lightest of tones. no way was it meant to insult the so called 'guru' of cgians. i respect him nevertheless and hope to learn from him when i eventually find one cg myself.

WAH SEH spoken like a true veteran.

That being said, my COE expiring in June and I can't afford to renew. Anyone interested? Just did a full overhaul so I guarantee the engine is tok kong.

lets say if you manage to get a knock-down machine which is needed to replace hell lots of items, let me break the sum for you.

machine -250(coe ending in 2012 feb)

dented tank and respray -180(diy maybe cheap but not as nice as paint job done by paint shop)

replace of gas tank(if the tank internal is super rusty)7/10 cg have gas tank rusty problem-70

replace of pet c0ck-15

round meter-45

replacement of handle lock and keys-10

headlight-25

signal lightsx4-20

brake light-30

handle bar-30

rewrap of seat-35

replace of front mudguard-20

replace of rear mudguard-20

number plate-25

chain guard-10

suspension-30

front fork service-60

relace of both rims-100(must relace for sure if not sooner or later will cause the inner tube burst)

replacement of both rims-90

replacement of inner tub-19

replacement of both tires-100-200(can use cheap cheap tires under 110$ if you feel tires are not important)

replacement of chain and sprocket-35

overhaul of engine-280

repaint of frame-10(diy)

total add up is close to 1.6k if you DIY and sent the things to the respective place to do.

sent in to shop cost another 500-800 workmanship.

i understand that you are looking for a cheap machine to mod into cafe racer.the cost of the rebuilt will be slightly higher due to some parts are a little more ex to use to make it look even more beautiful..bling bling chrome chrome effect.

for me im looking at 1.6k which is slight neg.

i can give 3 mth warrenty for my cg(engine parts),dun think any bike shop can offer this.

riding a cg to malaysia was so fun using a cg,went to endau rompin and i can enjoy all the corners with my made in japan tires.

so has bernard master the skills of "pay and learnt"?

given a choice again ,you will choose a done up cg or a knock-down cg?

bo pian leh! COE so high now. Anyway tonychan i still got installments on my bike. no early repayment fee though. about $700 left. I am agreeable to let it go without any top up.

but that's pending yeah, cos I have another friend looking at buying my cg and renewing the COE. Pity to let the old girl die like that and be cannibalised for parts. Am kinda attached to this bike now. She's riding damn smooth after the overhaul
