Instead of towing... It might be better to get a new batt and install?

Yes. I do want to change to a new battery as the current one is 2 years old. Problem is I got to figure out what nuts to undo and go buy the tools to do it. DT battery is well recesed.

Most scooters batteries are concealed.... It's not too difficult... Battery located under seat.... Right at the rear.... I've observed how they changed mine....really not that difficult

Hello all DT riders, my DT300 is 2 years plus and my engine is starting sound louder. Any solutions to this?

Also, has anyone used after market air filters on your DT? Mine is due for a change and im looking to invest in a good one such as K&N maybe.

Hi wee keong, I heard you sold off your scoot? I must have gotten the wrong info then.

What is your mileage now?

Must hear where the sound coming from.

I have heard one ah pek 300 very loud and rattling. He always whack his scooter.

Then heard he changed the rear clutch assembly.

Not saying you whack the scoot, of course you don't but I do ha ha. So far my mileage at about 35000km.

If engine loud could be the engine oil used.

Time to change oil.

The rear clutch may need servicing.

The best is to let your mechanic hear.

Do check that the rear gear/hub oil meed to change at every 5000km. The rear gear seems to be working hard. I switched to 75W140 as I find 75W90 is not enough cushion for the gears to my liking.

140gear oil makes whining gear noise like aeroplane at about 80km/h ha ha.

Hello Bro,

It's been awhile! How are you? Gong Xi Fa Cai btw!

I wont sell this bike for now because it is just so practical or me. The only downside to this bike is the belting servicing. It's just too expensive. Anyway I just changed the rear gear hub oil 3000km ago and I don't wack the scooter at all.. Most of the time I run at 5k RPM at 80km/h. Sometimes I will rev up to 6k RPM and that's the max I go. Mileage now is about 23K. I think a lot of the noise is coming from the mid section of my whole exhaust pipe. Hopefully this is not a leak. I also have a habit of changing my engine oil at 2500-3000km interval. Perhaps there is a better oil you have to recommend?

Hitting the workshop anytime soon bro? let me buy u a drink...

@wee keong

Thanks, join us if you can for the kymco meet every alternate Friday night.

@waikiki69

Notice my led start to go off one by one.

Then headlamp blown

Then battery weak and flat.

Turns out to be rectifier spoilt.

Over charging @ >18V

Do check your bike is not over charging.

How to check whether bike is overcharging battery?

How to check whether bike is overcharging battery?

If the alternator and battery are working ok, all lights off no radio or other stuff on, charging voltage should read 14.5V when engine is rev'ed up. If high, will kill battery, bulbs and especially electronics like displays n CDI. To check alternator, rev engine with headlights on like normal riding, voltage should hold 14.5 or near. If it cannot sustain, then alternator/rectifier needs checking.

Idling is usually not enough to charge. If lower than 14.5, can be due to dying battery. Get that checked before paying big money to repair the alternator.

How to tell if battery is ok? Engine off for a while to set battery settle. Engine off and all lights off, voltage should read 13.2V. If less than 11V, it'll still work but considered gone. Anything in-between is useable but you can conclude that it's half gone if it's halfway between 13.2 and 11 etc etc.
