When you say back variator do you mean the clutch?

This morning I had a call from my mechanics asking me to take the bike to the garage to do some checks for Kymco UK. I took it to them during my lunch hour and they meassured the bell and inspected it carefully to see if it had a bent or something. they seem happy with the state of the bell.

Now as per their conversation with Kymco UK whilst I was there, they have ordered an improved version of the clutch. I am not sure what do they mean by improved??? they took my VIN number so I assume they already know that I have the LGE5, I am crossing my fingers that there is newer version but don't want to keep my hopes too high, if such thing existed I am sure you guys will get it before us in Europe.

Will let you know what it is as soon as they get it.

I hope I didn't get the terms mix up..... lol

The part that is with the clutch pad and springs.

Anyway, the front systems is the LGE5. Parotae wanted to try changing that to the original LEA7.

The bell is a LEA7, the clutch pad part is LGE5 on the newer ones and now I'm using the LEA7 which I suppose is

the original part for the older version.

Not sure whether they will release another part, maybe LEA 7.5.2 or LGE5.2.1.......lol like computer OS

Anyway, the test clutch pad I've tried felt pretty ok on the LGE5. That is why I'm hoping to try it again

when they release it(if they do) on the LEA7 that I have now.

Feedback on the Moty's.... actually the engine doesn't "growl" as it did with the

semi's..... When I was using the semi's, everytime I push the engine, the engine sort of like

.......growls. Now it seems more solid.

I mean it is actually quite smooth as I'm using the LEA7 clutch system. So wasn't entirely sure how my overall performance is being affected as oppose to having the LGE5 system in place.

Think they are getting close to solving their problems. Problem is how much will the new bike price be or will they hold their price so that they can now really give the Japs a run for their money. Which in turn will bring the price of the Japs' bike price down.........:p

Hi all. Wah this thread so active. I post in Cygnus thread until now no reply haha. Thinking of getting a scoot

Hi tankspeed, Yammy Cygnus I think is a very good scoot. Wanted to get it while I was still riding a skipper, but quite ex. It's a good scoot to mod with many parts from Hong Kong and Taiwan. I didn't get because my 150cc already no power, afraid that 125 is the same power. But that time no Downtown 125 if not I might buy because of big size save petrol and larg storage and best of all to make my pillion happy as the seat is very big and comfy. X9 was my option then but heard a lot of problems with water going into meter and water pump problems and belt vibration problems :p

Nah. Thanks to the high Japanese yen, their products will continue to be expensive.

Nothing in the market thus far can beat Kymco with their comprehensive lineup.

Well, on a side note, I stopped the DT at a bus stop to change into my raincoat.

Little did i know that it was on a small downward slope, and when i thought i had put my side stand down, it sprained up, causing the bike to topple on the left, and as a result, I'm at the doctor's, checking if I've sprained my left wrist or not....

So now it's grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr great!:thumb:

I forgot to ask you what is your mileage when you change yesterday.

The front transmission assembly are known as Variator as it varies the belt position according to rpm.

The rear assembly are know as the torque driver and clutch system where the torque driver (the 2 disc that clamp the belt)will (assuming) prevent the disc from opening so as to not allow the Variator to change to lower gear but to bulit up revolution which increases road speed without more effort. As the road speed is reached the torque gets lesser the torque driving assembly will release clapping force thus allowing the gearing to go down to built up even more road speed :)

Lower gear higher speed lower torque

Higher gear lower speed higher torque.

It just occur to me that the CVT is a system that you are always in the right gear. There is no wrong gear situation. Only wrong calculation by the designer/engineer :)

Actually, for CVT, there's no gear.

Its a system where its just playing around with ratios.

Please don't bring up the X9 again.... Nightmare for me if compare to the Kymco. :(

At least don't have to top up the water coolant every week or so.

Possibly and also the Japs are very proud ppl, so they won't want to lower their price to compete

with a "Taiwanese" maker.

Hope you are okay and not suffer any serious injuries.

The CVT is a form of gearing IMO

It is a system where the transmission varies itself according to road speed and torque and adjust it's (gearing) ratio. :)

OK I got your point, there is no physical gear except for the rear gearbox final drive.

You mean the Moty's? It is not too bad. Told Firesaint i will continue using it if I like it. But might

want to give the 300v a run after this to see the difference.

Thanks for the explanation on the system, now more clearer to me......wahahahaha

So according to the parts explanation by bro Parotae.

My variator is LGE5. My bell is LEA7, the clutch system is LEA7(previously LGE5) and the torque driver

unit should be LEA7.

Hopefully I got all of that right.

Nah. No scratches on the scoot.

My wrist fortunately, just sprained. It was already weakened anyways with all the heavy loads I'm carrying each week.

Haha.

I was offered $75-$90/piece from LAB -> Michellin/ Bridgestone.

Wanted to ask you the last time you mention about the tyres.

What psi did u pump it up to? Maybe because i don't really like to play cornering,

but it felt alright to me. ;)

I think either one of them should be okay. I used to have Michelin on my SW

but maybe because of the body length, the handling is not fantastic. And also

I tend to use the tyres for quite a long time before i change them. So was "slipping"

during wet weather.....lol

I keep to the manufacturer's 29psi front [200kpa], 32psi [220kpa]rear.

After 1 week, the pressure at the front drops to 150-170kpa which gives me better front grip, but cornering is rubbish.

The rear drops to 180-190kpa. More grip, but cornering is rubbish too.

With such low pressures, I constantly have to make steering corrections.

I believe the original tyres that I have is from Taiwan?

I think the brand is called Maxis if I'm not wrong. The pressure does drop a wee bit fast in a sense.

Maybe you can try Bridgestone 1st. Not that I'm against Michelin, but feeling says go for Bridgestone....lol

Here in the UK we get the Kenda brand stock tyres, they are not that bad actually can last very long 20,000 km. The problem that they have is that they take a while to warm up and the rear can be very slippery when cold or heavy breaking.

I have heard a lot of good reviews for the Pirelli Diablo, I will go for them on my third service at 15,000 km. Here is a link for them:
