Yeah.

One thing about Maxxis, it loses the tire pressure like crazy. Gotta pump/ check each week.

This set of Metzeler, curiously, the tire pressure still is the same even after 2-3 weeks. Haha.

The Maxxis, the moment it loses tire pressure, can feel one. Haha. Corner or wet weather, starts to feel skiddish [weird right, since lesser pressure, means more contact area of the rubber].

Theoretical and Practical, real world can be so different at times.

The grip from the Metzeler is crazy lah. haha. It adds to the performance of the DT. But it also adds to the fuel consumption =(

After my first servicing, the mech pump wrong tire pressure. My front wobbled when i go 140km! Quickly go top up the air at the petrol station. my front has to be 200, rear 250.

Haha. Yeah. Wobbling occurs when the tire pressure drops on my previous set of Maxxis.

Horrible man. haha.

Metzeler, no problems. Only problem is the effect it has on my wallet. Haha!

From mototuneusa is to run in hard.

Ride normally is good enough.

Just remember to vary your speed, rpm rather as it is a scooter.

I find traffic jam very good for low to midium speed run in. Engine nice and hot, good quick burst of acceleration and hard deceleration and braking. High low high low can run in soon enough.

My theory.

For scooters not like geared bike can use constant 1 gear. Scooter rpm will vary, need to start from 3000rpm to 6-7000rpm best to get this results is in moderate to heavy traffic. I can do it but not recommended as it takes road experience in other words not recommended, just sharing how I do it. Got burst of rpm through the rpm range except top speed, which I think is good enough for Singapore road. Empty road is best, just that you'll need to look out for vehicle following behind you.

Just my 10cents, to give you a rough idea about running in.

What is run-in? Why? You must understand the reason and theory then you will see how you like it - hard or gentle, safe or dangerous.

Exactly how I did it...thanks for the heads up... Btw for how long shld I continue with this sort of runin?

Posted (edited)

I did it 1 time only at night after i collected the scoot on the same day, warm it up fully then go for a 30minutes hard run-in. accelerating and decelerate. upslope and downslope and finally max speed at 140km/h. Done, run in finish heh heh.

Then subsequent burst once in a while during normal riding some of the days, though not necessary just to feel everything is normal.

You can read for fun about motoman run-in method here.

Ytd, had to carry back a plastic bag full of VGA cables. I had my doubts at first if the DT could store it.

But then, it fit so nicely in the underseat storage, I just lob it in, and whola!

The DT is still surprising me each time I have to carry larger items other than my backpack!

I might have been in the hospital. Almost got involved with an accident, at Changi Business Park there.

Haiz. I think my mind was elsewhere. Approaching a junction, which I probably thought there wasn't and thought it was a straight thru road instead.

Only realised when a Fiat Doblo was approaching from my left side.

Both of us e-braked as a result. I think I was going 80kph at that time.

Fortunately, the female van driver [rather young one], was driving slowly, and she saw me and braked, even before I did.

Haiz. Blur me. Thanks be to God though, for keeping me alive thus far.

Thank God for female drivers too! They sure are cautious! I may have been knocked down if it was a male driver.....=(

Yup, enough already. Can ride normally already :thumb:

The most important already done, to seal the piston rings.

woa relax leh bro.....

ya cant close seats lol

Yours is full face helmet??

Half-face shouldn't be a problem. Haha. Did you try adjusting the position??

The Xciting 400i probably will have the same problem too. My helmet is full-face and XL size. I hope the underseat storage for the Xciting 400i will be larger than the Xciting 300Ri =)

Glad that you are safe.

Yes, loss of concentration in riding is very dangerous.

Me myself included are guilty on numerous occasion like :

Loss my way, looking for direction, rushing, frustration, sadness, excitement, woman (I guess this one tops, hands down) and etc....

I always tell myself that just concentrate on riding first, all others can wait and think later. If I loss my way, I try not to ride slowly and figure out but rather stop at a safe place or exit expressway if I have to to figure out on my location.

Road experience is crucial as there is no re start button in life. Anyone can ride but not anyone knows about defensive riding or have road experience.

Yeah.

I was lost around Bugis/ City Hall/ Rochor area too.... But I turn here turn there, end up found my way around. Haha!

I didn't know what I was thinking about. Maybe my mind went blank for a while. =(

That was my first time of scary motoring. Don't want it to happen again.

Went to Changi City Point just now.

Bike and car entrace different. Haha. Long queue of cars, motorbike take another entrance. But motorbike lots are right at the exit of the carpark. Very strange position.

It's one of the best shopping centres though -> Huge and spacious. Kids were running all over the place.

Not too bad for what it is an ulu place, and surrounding it are commercial buildings.

Next to it coming up is a hotel. Haha. Saw a direction sign stating "Hotel" when I came out from the carpark.

@Doremi: How's the MyRoad so far? Where did you ride over the long weekend?

I just realised those tourers like the ST1300 and FJR1300, side panniers aren't exactly wide. I rmb the FJR1300 side pannier had problems fitting in a full-face helmet. Rather useless IMO. Haha.

Honda Integra probably is those thin and compact side panniers -> Not really useful or practical.

I don't know if this link is what you're looking for?

http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/on_the_roads/ERP_Rates.html

I just googled it off.

What you mean time meter is faulty?? You can adjust your time manually. Be in the odo mode, then depress both mode and set. The time should be able to be set then.
