Whoa!

You actually mount the GPS on the IU!?!?

DT IU located in between the windshield, so too bad, cannot mount it on the IU.

But can try mounting on the windshield itself, like those car ones.

I know Doremi mounts the GPS on the handle bar.

Very good idea, thanks for sharing. My IU behind windscreen cannot fit ha ha.

Guys.. Possible to show me how its mounted? If I am not wrong u can use heavy duty hard velcro and air tight containers to mount on the dash and windscreen.. And its water proof.. This is just a test.. If I can get my hands on a good sized container I would doo that coz vibrations will be minimised by quite a bit if I am not wrong.

Happy diying guys

Yes the front and rear are different in part number.

From what I heard, the malossi pads are very good.

The reason they don't stock the rear pads could be because the original pads are adequate.

There are many school of taught ranging from running in down to type of eo used. There is no right and wrong.

Anyway 95% of Singaporean doesnt use their vehicles long enough till its unusable. Or rather when the bike starts to give problem, change bike.

Bro

I understand.. In fact just for normal run in there are 1001 ways of doing it.

Too many permutations and ur right and sgeans being afraid to spend more money

Then they shld sort of mindset... Henxe the obsessing buy and sell Theory..

Btw how long have u been riding for? Myself from 2000 but stopped for abt 6yrs

As the saying goes... Once a biker...always a biker...

Haha.

I realised my brake pads are giving out lots of brake dust.

The next time I service, will probably ask them to clean my bike up a little using those high pressure nozzles. =)

Hmm.... Each time I go there, I always think to myself it'll be great if I had their tools. Then I can service my own bike =) Gain experience, then next time can become pro like them.

As for the GPS mount on windshield, I guess, yeah, it's like those car rear view mirriors kind -> Vacuum on the inside, so it won't drop =)

I saw this on the Americam forum, maybe something to consider

Just notice the symptom this morning, the jerking motion like the fuel cut in and out very quickly just bbefore 40km/h. I was going up a slight slope on a long stretch coming to a stop at a red traffic lights. Just as I was squeezing through and between cars around 30km/h and accelerating a bit when I pass the car, that's when it happens. When from 30km/h to almost 40km/h the quick intermittent jerk happens.

I may not have felt it or notice it earlier as I pass it off as a clutch issue where the clutch vibrates in this range is usual ( clutch biting point vibration). So I am not that sensitive after all, took me so long to realize a lying problem that has been there, been mention and I didn't felt it until today :p

So another problem to add on the list.

I am finding the downtown seat very uncomfortable and frustrating to use now adays. It's a problem I might not get use to unless I modified or add some back rest. It's been there since the beginning and have tried yi get use to it. I can't take it anymore. I find myself hunching all the time. Its fine when I hunch but it gets into a bad habit and it's tiring for my back after a short ride. When I sit straight my arms can't grip the handle properly as my arms are short. I am 1.68m. So in order to sit straight and grip the handle bar I have to move my body forward and this makes it even more uncomfortable, squeezing my belly and crotch to the point that it is as though I am tucking my willy between my belly and my thigh squeezing my poor willy. Very uncomfortable. Have to put a back rest or change the handle bar/ move the handle nearer towards my body. Try seating on a seat that makes puts your leg bend at 90 degree and sit with back staight and lean forward arching your back backwards and let the weight of your belly hang down. Its especially uncomfortable with jeans. Felt as though the jeans is cutting in to my skin when I sit this way. Is this how g-string might have felt? Hmmmmm.........:D

Interesting, I also feel that mine is getting a bit louder maybe the scooter is maturing, who knows (2nd service due in 500km). Also here is the UK is getting cold 5 – 10 degrees Celsius, and when I start the bike for the first time in the day the idle revs stay at 2000 for a while... Not sure why, I blame the weather...

I have not experience the lack of power when low on fuel and I tend to let it go low.

I paid about 230 Euros for it.

I guess that must be the Auto Choke kicking in that was being mention somewhere.

Do u have that flat spot parotae mention between 40 to 60km/h?

Thanks to parotae, it is really very irritating when accelerating between 40 to 60km/h......lol

Come to think of it, the scooter use to do sudden acceleration but is no longer doing that.

I suppose the parts has already break in and it is now its usual self.

Will check out whether TaiHin brings them in here and how much it cost.

Gonna try another engine next change!

Lol! Try the Xciting riding position. That's even sportier, and makes u bend ur back forward more than DownTown's.

My DT125i still as smooth as ever!

All the jerkiness still happens even with aftermarket clutches??

Basic tools enough already. The most important is impact wrench. Battery operated is about $400 Bosch. Most important learn how to change oil.

I saw another DT300i yesterday, FBD 484* on PIE (Jurong) just after ADam Road exit....

Haha.

I'm also 1.68m, I find the seating position not too bad leah. Haha.

But I do wish for more legroom to stretch out though. Should be like the SYM GTS200 layout.

NVM, will be changing to the Xciting 400i next year =)

You are very unlucky, everything that can go wrong goes wrong with your bike. Although this is very well known issue and there is a fix to it (new clutch). if yours is not that severe and you just noticed now maybe a a good clean up on the pads and bell will do the job for a while.

Not that you need me to tell you how to do it but here is a video on how to do a good job

I am 1.72m and have no issues with handling and seating, I feel quiet confortable, I have managed to do a 2.5 hours trip nonstop and I think I could have gone for a bit longer.

I'm 1.78m, though I'm "ok" with the sitting position, but I would wish for more leg room. Maybe not like SW which I really love, but at least

like the X9. Maybe can convert the seat into a one seater since I dun really pillion any passenger.

The vibes could also be due to a worn bolt? Or what's that thing called connecting the engine to the clutch?? Isn't it called a shaft?? Haha.

DT is getting more and more aggressive looking by the day! Haha.

Its a maxi-city-scooter, hence the slightly tighter legroom.

Silverwing on the other hand is a touring- maxi-scooter.... Super huge, and super spacious.

sorry guys for the bad quality of the pics..taken from my hp... ok there is one process i didnt take photos... that is the making of the acrylic base. its pretty straight forward but i will just run thru just incase coz its never too much info...

what you'll need:

scissors

paper

cardboard optional

pen

acrylic. thickness is up to you but i like to work with thinner ones for this project due to flexibility

2 long strong cable ties not too thick must be flexible

ok first i got my hands abit dirty...literally

i took a piece of paper and placed it on the top of the erp. and used my dirty hands to go along the corners of the iu.

you will see a visible mark on the paper..

cut the ouline and if possible transfer to a cardboard if u have one piece lying ard...

now this will be your template... the reason y i did it with the paper coz it will be easier to work with when getting the outline.

now to transfer to the acrylic cardboard will be easier bcoz of thickness.

cut out the outline with saw, dremel whatever u can find.. u can even use a hobby cutter cut in a few mm then use pliers to break off and sand paper.. this is the quickest way

i made 2 pieces and stuck them together for stability.

use GOOD TAPE for bonding i used 3m clear tape...sticks very well...

mounted on iu.. i stuck the acrylic piece after the hinge for the cover but its really up to u if u wanna make a whole piece thn u gotta make slots for the hinges..

Now if u think this is too much hassle.. thn just buy a piece of acrylic or go to those signboard shops in ubi or where ever and u can get it for free..but it might be some weird colour i guess? cut it to size or just leave it if u have a rectangular shape and wanna save the hassle..

but u must use decent tape la..

now i mounted in such a way that the suction tab is facing left/right i will slot 2cable ties and zip it up... just in case.. ( this step is not shown in pic.)

any questions or if u have a revised idea place let me know:) we can discuss over kopi :)

Morning guys... Ok.. I tried my diy holder and its not holding up due to massive vibrations .. I already thought of a better way to mount the gps on the windscreen using a rms meter holder and velcro on the bottom and back to hopfully reduce vibrations..this time... As the meter holder has flexible ends... U can virtually mount it anywhere! Which is awesome...

Cool sia.

Haha.

Anyways, I'm trying to use my high beam. I realise it may not be glaring afterall, as long as traffic in front and ahead don't look at the high beam at eye level.

With the high beam, it looks a lot more aggressive! Lamps above, LED DRL below! Shiok!
