Super 4 have 4X100cc inside. 4 cylinder engine have a well distributed power in 2 crank revolution. For every 2 round of the crankshaft there is 4 power stroke. It's like bang bang bang bang very smooth. Where as 1 cylinder it's like 1 power stroke for every 2 round of engine revolution. It's intake, compression, combustion and exhaust like...wait wait wait bang, wait wait, wait bang so compare to bang bang bang bang, 4 cylinder smoother. Something like that ha ha. In other words, usually the more cylinder the smoother with lesser vibration.

It also depends on the engine mounting, too soft cannot hold engine, too hard will have more vibration. The internal design of the engine also contribute to vibration due to the nature of design. There's long stroke and short stroke. Shorter stroke design are for sports, higher rpm. Longer stroke for economy i think ha ha too many contributing factors.

In short. 1 cylinder vs 4 cylinder. 4 cylinder will be smoother.

Ahh. Ok. I get it.

So 4-cylinder, at any one time, all 4 cylinders are doing different things right? So a constant combustion is occuring each time the cylinder moves.

Whereas, for 1-cylinder, it's only the 3rd stroke then comes combustion.

Very impressed with the Super 4. No wonder it's so popular!!

I just hope the Xciting 400i wouldn't have crazy vibes though. Am not a fan of such treatment. Haha.

The GrandDink 300i was vibrating like a harley. Hope it doesn't happen on the Xciting 400i!

But I guess for 4-cylinder, the engine oil maintenance is super high, and gotta change 4 spark plugs instead of 1, and maintenance in general, such as wear and tear will be super high as well.

3-cylinder by Triumph should have a good balance ain't it?

Oh. I forgot that the Xciting 400i will be a parallel twin too right?? Power shouldn't be an issue, but vibes maybe. Haha. Cos two stroke running in parallel.

This coming Xciting 400 only 1 cylinder.

You get what you pay for, high performance high maintenance.

One cylinder? I thought it'll be twin. Haha.

Same as SilverWing 400 no?

When you want to ride bigger cc bike. You shouldnt be so overly concerned with the maintenance. If you do, stick with 2b or public transport.

Performance=$$$.

Of course you can do alot more with the bigger cc bike. A worth it trade off.

Maintenance can't be more than a car for me.

Class 2A bikes still ok lah. Class 2 though? Gotta think twice. Haha.

I just want a larger cc bike for the performance, and perhaps for touring in Malaysia too.

You can cover over with a zip lock bag or any plastic bag that gives good transparency for view your maps. Just cover over. The rain won't go inside plus you can touch the screen.

Hmm.. I was thinking of that prev. But wont it collect moisture? I was thinking of a locktight box..i know toyogo got.. will go down tpy tmr I guess... Anyone wanna meetup for some kopi?

But hor, ziplock bag don't look professional on a stylish scooter like the DT and Xciting.

Haha.

Best is to find those see-through pouch. Comes with a zip. Then behind either can attach velcro to wrap around something, or a clip on button.

Looks better!

Haha bro my setup already not professional lol

IMO no. I am using NGK CR7EIX $12. No difference, except for idling, drop 100rpm at 1500 Now 1700rpm.

So low? Mine constant 2k leh... Shld I be worried?

Touring with 400cc and below, they falls in the same category on NSHW. These cc bikes are not built for touring. When you do 130kph on the super four on the north south highway, the vibration is so strong that you probably make do with 110-120kph instead. 110kph-120kph can also be achieved by 200cc bike.

If you use a bike very often, the maintenance can be as much as a car actually. Doing a trip in a day easily clocked few hundred km.

Lets say monday - saturday - each day 50km, you clock 600km in just six days. You go for a trip and clocked 300-400km. You already hit near to 1000km in a week. To clock 3000km and above can be easily done in a month. If you changed engine oil every 3000-5000km, you are already engine oil one to two months.

Cheaper than car?

Wait, i need to confirm first :p i thought 1 cylinder first.

Sorry, can't find any info for Xciting 400i having 1 cylinder.

Where did you learn about the Xciting having twin cylinder?

Suzuki Burgman is single 400.

Yamaha Majesty is single 400

Xciting 500 i think is also single no?

Piaggio X9 500 single

Read from this site about Xciting having a 550i engine, maybe that's the one having the twin cylinder.

Here you go

http://cmgonline.com/news/2011/11/14/eicma-scooter-news/

If a maxi-scooter is more your style than a machine combining 1940s styling with modern technology, Kymco has a new two-wheeler that could interest you, the Xciting 400.

Details are sketchy so far – we haven’t been able to find out anything on their Canadian site yet – but it seems the machine is powered by a fuel-injected four-stroke 400cc single-cylinder engine putting out about 35 horsepower. It’ll roll on a 15-inch front wheel and 14-inch rear, and is slowed down by three disc brakes. ABS is optional.

Since we already have the 500 Xciting here, we’re not sure that the 400 will be coming anytime soon.

Can't imagine Xciting sharing engine with this guy.

If this MXU550i uses a twin cylinder than Xciting 550i is coming!

Actual cc maybe 545cc as pervious model 550 is 545cc

Nice. Sym also announced 600! Those who wanna change to bigger cc, hold your wallet!

Yup, heard that Maxsym 600 will be release after the 400. So soon coming. Guess this one will have the full front brake stopping power as compared to 400 left caliper with only 1 piston and half a brake pads. So Maxsym 400 owners get ready to upgrade their caliper and pads.

Hmm if I may... I beg to diff bro... I used to own a spec2. And along with four s4's we did avg of abt 140-150 and at point 180 to hattyai. No heavy vibrations at all if I remeber correctly.. But I guess its more of how often u service and mantain the bike as well.

When you start the bike n let the engine idle for few minutes. Did the rpm drop? Mine did

Alot of factors. Ranging from pillion, rider weight, height, top box, saddle bags, type of gears you wore, wind shield, back pack. Riders endurance limit. Doesnt mean you n your friends can take it, Other can.

Day ride. Night ride also important. Fatigue level too.
