And this is crazier.

Makes me feel like as if the whole of Taiwan is riding Kymco's/ SYM.... And the big models at that!

Not those small sheeps [Xiao Mian Yang].

I found this on the Spanish forum, maybe some of you knew how to reset the fuel injection system (very handy when the bike doesn't want to start)

Please pay attention to the note that say if the bike is showing an error is best to get it checked by a professional rather than resetting the system.

Another interesting fact that I've learnt is that is recommended to switch off the engine by turning the key rather than using the emergency red button (as the name says use it only for emergencies).

For the last few months I got used to use the red button to stop the engine every time I needed to and today my bike stopped twice on the way from home to work, hopefully this is the reason why it happened.

I would normally switch off after I have put down the side stand, which cuts off the engine, before I turn

the key to off.

Synman do you mean the contacts on the battery?

Thanks

The contact points at the switches area. Just try spraying the contact cleaner between the gaps and wipe away excess.

Dun have to flood them, just a few short burst. Eg, the hazard button, the engine off button, even the signal lights and high beam light switch.

I was having problem with my hazard light switch about few weeks ago.

Everytime I switch it on, it doesn't come on. Had to do some fiddling with the switches before it came back on.

Finally, last week I sprayed some contact cleaner at the switch area and it has been working fine.

Just pumped another tank of fuel.

286.3km with 10.11 Litres. Fuel consumption of 28.3km/L =(

I guess it's the engine oil.

Get a huge box lah [above 50L kind].

The base Shad 40i box MS gave is ridiculously small. That's why I change to SH45i, which is noticeably longer, due to my budget constrains. Or else I'd have changed to something larger than 50L already. Haha!

Side panniers look ridiculous! Scooters already have underseat storage!

I guess it depends on personal pref bro... Even if I get a 50 plus litre box... Wad am I going to do with my 42? And the largest is 58 I am guessing? Unsure on this. But if I have panniers leisure few days tours would be a reality.. When I stopped riding...I missed my msia thai trips the most... I dont do it for the transport... I do it for the passion.

Woa sian....just calculated my l/km.... Zun zun 20km/l why so low? I only do expressway riding... And I dont over rev. The only thing I did was oil servicing at ms.. Mineral oil. Thats it..

Wah that's very low.

Just to check cause i don't know your scoot history.

Xciting 300i

Brand new?

Mileage now?

What engine oil you use?

Your tire pressure.

Petrol used?

Things that affect fuel consumption

Air Filter

Spark plugs

Tire pressure

Engine oil

That's all i can think of for the moment.

Most likely a tuning issue.

What's your average speed rpm like?

eg.My DT average 80km/h is like around ~5400rpm-5600rpm

Mileage now? Abt 400km now will update exact kms later bro

What engine oil you use? Not sure I guess its the std free mineral oil? I think its 20w50 ?

Your tire pressure. Tyre pressure ok bro

Petrol used? I used shell 98 for that tank.

Most likely a tuning issue. Hmm tuning issue? I tot its all electronically controlled?

What's your average speed rpm like? Hmm... Abt 5-6k seldom hit 7k

I travel on the expressway abt 90-110km home to work is abt 10mins. More thn Half of time is on expressway.. Ermm tts all I can think of... Ok I donno if this is relevent but there was once I had slightly less thn half tank thn the next thing I know 1/4 tank.. I tot it was a lag or something and didnt put much into it..

eg.My DT average 80km/h is like around ~5400rpm-5600rpm

Expressway should save more. When you can Send to MS for a check. Something is wrong.

Hopefully it's just a tuning issue, because there is no warning light on or blinking red light, right?

20km/l is way too low for xciting.

Errmmm I think its was last week I sent for service.

Could it be the eo? Donno if the idling at 2k is a concern also..

Hi juanpauk, saw the article over at the kymco forum about the 2 different variator. I am hoping that the variator should be interchangeable but from your info about Malossi having 2 different model of variator for 2 different batches of Downtown/Superdink,Dinkstreet, i am doubtful about fixing the LEA7 on my DT but.......I got them anyway ha ha :cheer:

I hope the belt doesn't hit the casing if i go top speed...not that i can over here at least.

Beside the 2 batches of DT having different transmission parts, the engine internal are modified as well. I read it over at the Taiwan forum. Will post pics if i manage to find the info. The difference apparently is a second oil strainer on the right hand side of the engine if i remember correctly.

As for fuel consumption, i am stuck at 25km/l constantly. So hopefully can see an improvement after the LEA7 installation....soon :D

My guess is...the performance will be worst, longer flat spot and slower acceleration(before the installation of sliding Dr pulley 14grams roller that is). As oppose to synman whose focus is on smoothness and performance, i am more for fuel economy...first.

If i really can't accept LEA7 variator performance, then i will gladly have the LGE5 on ha ha.

My DT125i no red line leah.

There's no differentiation with regards to the engine rpm.

Will monitor this current tank of fuel. Or perhaps it's the fuel pump that has problems? Charging me more but it's actually 0.5L lesser of fuel pumped into the tank?

My "high" fuel consumption happens whenever the fuel nozzle still had extra fuel in it, which ends up fuel spilled all over the fuel tank cap area.

@BaMBiNo:

If you're changing to more than 50L box, you may wanna consider selling the 42L box here on SBF?

That's what I did with my SH40i. Within days of posting, people start PM me already. Haha!

Will be trying Unique Motorsport's engine oil package the next time I change the engine oil.

Plus change spark plugs and oil filter as well.

And if UM doesn't do cleaning of the clutch/ variator, will go down to MS to do it. Haha.

Perhaps all the dust inside the CVT transmission is causing friction, which increases the fuel consumption a wee bit? Will also be monitoring my tyre pressure too.

From what I am told bro... Dt dont redline xciting does due to the differance in engine ? Ofcoz this is said by ms la.

As for the "high" fuel.. I think its negligable la... Its only a wee bit only... If u want maximum... Pump when weather is cold..

Since when is the weather here in Singapore cold. Haha!

Oh well. Will monitor it again.

I'll check my tire pressure later.

I should be getting 30.5km/L. That's already a discount from the 35.5km/L since my previous factory fitted tires.
