Braking is an art itself.

Not only brake pads wear, tyre wear as well. Sudden acceleration and deceleration also causes tyre wear.

I like the under seat compartment for storing my helmet after wearing. The heat can dry moisture faster ha ha rather than let it seat in the box and grow bacteria, which causes funky smell. Gloves too - perfect.

Woa bro so how lian hahahaha

Yup braking is an art...

Today when I was on my way to work... I passed by the construction Area near mbs... Afew portions were metal flooring, and covered with tarmac.... As I was riding like a baus... I didnt see a bare metal plate... I shifted abt 10-15 freaking degrees......

Aiyah i read it somewhere before, just quoting it :p

Eh....which part how lian? Braking?

I don't even know what is the correct braking technique, maybe that's why it's an art.

What's with that scary picture?. Looks like he is hiding from something scary...Is it the metal plate coming to haunt him after narrowly escaping the shift? :D

Hmmm. The scary pic I posted means just now during the skid.... " i shouldnt have been alive" parody for the us hit drama show.. Hehe

Already more than two weeks with the Hit system. I am sure this was an excelent upgrade for my bike, acceleration off the line improved.

Now in terms of bells I am a bit dissapointed with the Malossi bell. I have to be honest And recognise that the bell was advertised for the Shadow 300, so I bought it hopping that it would fit my bike without problems, Unfortunatly it has a problem, the bell makes a slight contact with the big nut that holds the clutch :(. So please do not buy this bell for your DT300.

I have ordered a replacement for my kymco bell, the one I have, took a lot a overheating caused by my anger ;).

The malossi bell was doing a great job in terms of getting rid of the vibrations and slippage but it was causing the clutch nut to become lose.

I reverted back to the old bell and will install the replacement ASAP, I have inspected the HiT clutch and overall it looks good, pads do not look shiny unlike the stock clutch. Perhaps I could make a small tutorial on how to work with the clutch and variator.

I think I can be considered to be a aggressive rider.

I think I'm using quite a bit of the brakes and as a result, brake fade is now happening rather noticeably, as well as tire wear. Haha.

Its been 2600km since I changed to the soft compound Metzeler.

Bro take it easy esp in this crazy weather man !

happy riding

If it's raining of course go slow like everybody else.....

Haha. Me not interested in the aftermarket windshield. I think that's crazy, and spoils the looks of the DT.

In fact, personally, I think DT50cc is possible for Singapore's city riding. 125cc come to think of it, a bit excessive!!! Haha!

Its not very appealing la... But it will work better for touring trips

A proper rider's jacket can block windblast quite considerably. That'll be a better investment I reckon.

Yes, i have the same tak tak sound too, especially the first quick and sudden light brake "tak tak" then subsequent technique did not appear. Then after a while without braking for some time, a quick tap on the right lever produce that metallic tak tak noise from the front again. I ask a friend and he said that that is the initial pads coming together to touch the disc rotor and after a while the pads will open again and the noise is back. No cause for concern. I've check, nothing loose. Then again please seek 2nd opinion.

For touring.. Its a must have... No touring without a jacket bro.

Block the wind with your jacket and if the cross wind is strong enough your scoot drifts to one side. I am surprise that DT will drift when there is cross wind. I thought DT aerodynamic enough. Singapore wind also can make DT drift. Scary.

Sorry to hear that, any way of adding a spacer just to bring the bell out by a few mm?

Hmm.... I see.... Thn why doesnt the left level not have tt sound?

the dt windscreen is higher thn xciting one so the headon wind will be deflected... As for the crosswind.. Any bike will have it bro.. Even car will kena at times too

I think also have lah. Same principle. Mine don't have because 1 side of my rear pads is like stuck at touching the disc rotor. My rear disc is very rough due to stuck pad and dragging. So when i tap the rear brakes no sound. It's already very close to the rotor disc.

You did not hear any sound from the rear because the brake is at the back. When the tak tak sound is on it's way to your ears the wind blow the sound away.

For the front as to why you can hear it's because the wind carry the tak tak sound back and upwards to your ears and that's why you can hear it. LOL!!!:D

My brakes sound more like releasing air from the tires, not tak yak....

So far, DT is stable, even with side winds, its usually my helmet that sways, and not the bike.

Even cars, buses, etc get the drifting effect too. Haha.

I wear those padded riding jacket. Its vented through mesh, and have plenty of compartments.

Ppl ask me why go to the extreme, I tell them, I'm doing it for safety. No joke.

Weak as in the first time you brake or after riding and using it for some time ?

For my front it's good enough, I usually apply the rear first, then apply more in front if needed. No weak braking in front.

Put your scoot on full stand, tilt the scoot backward so that the front wheel is off the ground. See if it can spin easily. If it can be spun with relative ease, no problem.

Check for oil around the front brake area for leak. Check your right hand side brake reseviour screen to see if there is enough oil.

What i mean by weak brake is the inability to stop on my front, especially when there's pillion. Jamming the brake lever does not stop the bike at all.

Something is wrong.

Jamming the brake should stop.

You should get someone/shop you know to have a look.

Motorsport will be close during the holidays.

You see, if the brake is stuck in front, the pads will heat up. As you travel faster more heat is generated and thus causing the pads friction to fade and hence you need to squeeze very hard to stop it with the front. If you can turn the wheel, that means it's not a stuck pads and you can look for other things like loosen bolt, jammed piston, no oil, oil leak, plunger faulty, pads install wrongly, grease on the disc and etc...

Traveling at 120kph, does it affect brake wear considerably as compared to 90kph??

By how much?? Haha. MS was saying normal brake pads can last 10-15k km no problems. But I'm already feeling a drop in braking performance.

It was grabby prior to 5000km, but past that, its now gradual braking, of course under normal braking conditions. Jam brake sure stop one lah.

Try the malossi front pads next change. I heard it's very jiak/effective. No need to change caliper, instant better braking. I heard only arh, have not tried. Malossi pads should have better resistance to brake fade.

I tried once with those sports pads of other brand Carbone Lorraine and my rotor got eaten up very badly. Ever since I didn't try after market. I think kymco pads are really bad, at 3000km my rotor is not even smooth and flat. It's rough and uneven. One pad I find very good is MITSU or something like that from LAB cheap but noisy with squeal ha ha. Brake force should be the same as original if not better.
