I've put rust removal. Found it in a bucket in me house.

Could take away some rust.

It's a white paste like thing.

Hope it works!

Wah lau! you not scare the paste drop inside the tank. Wait the paste choke your injector. If it manage to go pass the fuel strainer that is ha ha.

Don't tell me the white paste you are referring to is autosol?

Thanks for all the replies. I must say that this Kymco riders forum is quite friendly :-)

In most other threads, I would have been slammed for starting an off-topic discussion on Kymco Like in a Downtown thread :-) Thanks for all the support bros!

Currently I ride a Honda TA200 (1.5 more year left for COE to expire) and this Kymco Like 200i is going to be my first scooter. I have been riding motorcycles all my life and I must admit that I don't know a lot about scooters... so I have to look to the experienced brothers on this forum for help and advice. Please bear with me if some of my posts sound a bit novice like!

About the Like 200i: So far I am enjoying my ride, it is not as powerful as the Phantom but definitely more fun to ride.

One question : is it normal for scooter rides to be a little more bumpier than motorcycles? I find that I need to go quite slow while riding over bumps with my scooter rather than when I ride my motorcycle.

I am guilty of that too... My first scoot... Probly not my last! Safe riding bro

Well, thanks for the advice guys.

I've still got plenty to learn with my humble 3 months old 2B license.

That said, the FeelFree tires have worn considerably - I'd put it to my "reckless" and "speeding" riding style. Guess I'll have to go easy on the throttle now.

Wasn't speeding at all in the rain. In fact, was coming to a stop already during the small incident. The gap was wide enough to squeeze through too. But I don't know what actually happened. Would think the tires skidded a little, and it was there and then that I lost it.

Quadro 4D makes a bit of sense. Can mount kerb, grass patches, etc.... Come to a stop don't have to put me legs down. Yet, it's still narrow enough to squeeze between traffic.

It's been a good lesson and I'll learn from it.

Chances is that there may be some bits of oil on the road that you can't see and with the light rain. Probably not!

As long as you are okay....

Anyway the Quadro is a new brand rite? Sorry haven't been following.

Nope. The paste ain't autosol.

I've wiped the under layer, so hopefully, the paste won't drop into the fuel tank.

That's what filters are for right?? Haha.

Erm, Quadro is a new brand. If I'm not wrong, its French.

As you know sometimes it's hard to express how one feels just by typing hence the smiley to express a clearer emotion. I think just take it as a pinch of salt, sometimes a harmless remark sounds differently on the keyboard. There are also trolls behind that screen ha ha. So take it easy ya.

Rode a few small scooters and once on a friend's phantom 200 for fun.

Yes the phantom is good over hump i guess due to the design. It's more forgiving, can just go across hump comfortably.

Scooter must be slow over hump espiacially with a pillion. I just went through the same hump every weekend with a pillion and strangly it hit the chassis with a loud "clang" i was like what happen??? Did they just raise the hump??? In fact i was going very slow as the traffic is jam.

Adjust the rear until it's firm enough for you. It maybe the max and in my case 1 step down from max. It's bumpier if set harder but better over hump. If set lower, less bumpy but bottom out over hump. Mine at first very bumpy but after 3000km seems like soft already, can hit the usual hump. Hope it's not leaky :p

Most scooter engine are at the rear and thus the way the spring cushion the shock are different. In phantom case the engine is in the middle so the weight are more distributed.

For rear engine when you go over the hump too fast, all the engine weight and wheels will be thrown upwards thus bottoming out the rear shocks. For phantom, only the weight of the wheels go upwards. Something like that. So yes scooter must go over hump slower. Especially bigger scoot, no? Cause mine still not big enough and i'm already going very slow. Going slow over hump is also good, Firstly the hump is there for a reason - to slow down for danger area and your shocks last longer too ha ha.

Haha trolls..... But too bad I cant put smilies like urs...so I "hahaha" to make the conversation lighter as well as " :) " thats the best I can do... Anyway for the hump discussion.... I think its for of the shorter wheel base with causes tt effect of harder bumps... First wheel havent landed second wheel up... The best feel would be as the first wheel is at the base of the hump the second wheel is just abt to go up... Awesomeness.... Whooop! Haha

Bro... From a person who had learnt it from a head concussion, temp amnesia and out of work for 1yr.....

Dont be haste.. I almost paid with my life... And I wasnt even speeding and on a straight road.. It takes only one sec of a wrong decision to be a life threatening situation... Fyi...when I woke up I couldnt remember who was who...tt includes my family...on a rainy day without failing tyres also got problem.... Few posts up... Did u see my post whereby I went sideways? Yes.... New bike new tyres new everything.. Still this can happen... I am not being losoh....but if I can make u a better rider with these few sentences... My work is done...

Life very fragile... :)

Used? Why buy used bro?

Posted

No no. I mean anybody has ever used Malossi products. Haha!

Went down to their shop just now.

Gotta wait till end Feb for the shipment to arrive.

Brake pads are $44 for both front and rear, and I've also asked on the variator [they only have variator for DT125i], which costs $220.

Don't know if I should go for the variator though.

You want to change variator because you want to -

1.Pickup faster

2.Increase your fuel consumption

3.increase your tire wear

4.Spend a bit more to replace parts like roller and U-shoe.

5.Visit 2 shops because MS don't have malossi parts like rollers and U-shoe.

Isumi brake pad is really lousy when I change fews months back. At times my bike would jerk vigrously with screehing sound pressing on my rear pad. My gf immediately tell me to go change and she will pay for it. :giddy:

Seeing it's an intermitten problem, I continue to use loh.

Finally changed to SBS yesterday @hkl for $18. :bounce:
