Maintenance for o-ring and x-ring is exactly the same, the only difference is the sealing mechanism used by the rubber rings. Saying one is more maintenance than the other is like saying its harder to eat a green apple than a red one.

$200 is too much for x-ring, ah boy have top of the range xring from DID for around $125, lower model DID X-ring less than $100.

wow.. really .. but DID i still consider quite a good range le.. Ah boy wan think if not wrong will be regina O'ring ba.. Do heard before this brand bot doesnt not have faith in it.

but tat veri cheap le .$125 for one.. doesnt it include spockets front and back...

try checking the water pump (located at the left hand side near the front sprocket cover)

could be the pump leaking.

There's no replacement for displacement except for a blower

there's the cheap alternative of juz gumming up the hole where's it's leaking..

but tat may cause the seal betw the coolant and engine oil to burst and u'll have milo engine oil (ie coolant in ur engine oil)..

another alternative is to change the gasket if that's the cause of the leak (sadly not a lot of mechanics willing/able to do tat..).. this also being not a very lasting solution.. cuz may leak again

the other alternative is juz to change the entire water pump.. will cost ard 150 plus..

There is a coolant overflow pipe that exits at the bottom of the bike. If the bike gets quite hot often you will get a few drops from here.

Usually what happens is as long as you are moving along no problem, if you get stuck in traffic the whole way home going really slow then you cruise around slow looking for parking space the bike is getting hotter and hotter then when you stop the coolant stops pumping through the system so the temperature goes up even a little more which often forces a bit of coolant out of the overflow pipe.

If its coming from the overflow pipe, no problem this is normal and what its there for, but you should consider a fan switch to keep it a bit cooler if you don't already have one.

If its coming from around the water pump try cleaning that area right up then dry it and come back later and look to see where the trail of water is coming from, may be as simple as a new gasket required to seal properly which is cheap and easy to go.

Could also be from a loose hose clamp on one of your coolant hoses, go around the bike and check that all the hoses are fitted right up onto their connectors and the clamps are done up tightly.

I'll say it again. The CBR600F4 rear shock bolts straight onto the CBR400 Fireblade. I have done it on my CBR400 at home in Australia, I have several friends who race who have done the same modification.

It will definately fit and it works very well. As I stated though the 600 spring is a bit stiff so you should put the SPRING from your old 400 shock onto the new 600 shock before fitting.

Then just unbolt the old shock, bolt in the new one and ride away.

Its a 30 minute job. Would have replied sooner but been busy with work and not checked the forums, sorry.

Hi Zero,

I have taken interest into your posting about the shock. I do understand a CBR600 F3 shock will fit into L ~ R model onwards with a slight bit of filing to be done. It was demostrated in a UK website before.

Now, I have asked about the f4 shock few yrs ago and it seems that the F4 one did not seem to fit in directly. So may i ask it this a case of just unbolt and bolt w/o major mods ?

I am anticipating a ride height increase in this case. How much was yours ?

I will not recommend replacing the 600 spring with the 400 one as the 400 one is on the soft side for riding/track purposes for me.
