wat i've learnt bout the coolant reservoir is not the same as u.

My understanding is :-

The coolant reservoir below our seat is a 'spare' to reinforce the radiator coolant when the coolant in the radiator boils/used up. So, when the coolant in the radiator boils... it does not really flow back to the reservoir. (those tat condenses will flow back, but when water boils... the water level will be much higher) thus, theres a tube/piping jus slightly below the radiator cover which allow the coolant in the radiator to flow/escape when the coolant in the radiator boils/ overflow. its 1 of those tubes tat is somewhere ard our right foot katak.

is mine understanding correct???

uuh.. if you read and understood my post, you would have seen that i had the same idea as you did although i won't really call the reservoir a spare. if u fill the spare up to the brim, the expanded coolant overflowing from our radiator has no place to go to when our bikes are running hot. the whole system is over pressurized by steam with no flare off point.

CBRs are old bikes... a lot of wear and tear to be expected.. the hoses and seals should be checked also..

chiong one is enough liao though i i don like. but knowing that when cbr drop, the wind shield tends to crack cos the mirrors are 'attached' to it.
