Bring a friend who ride a bike along. He will know what to look out for. But at the end of the day, it's all up to u if u wanna believe the seller about what he did to the bike.

got bike back from bike shop after changing batt/rectifier & magnet coil, now need to do rewiring, change cdi, sprocket & chain. wah i think damage at least $1.5k :(

Just consider yourself lucky it's not piston jam and need overhaul. Top block alone costs $2k. Haven't include the block and the 4 pistons.

yeah man. how much have you spend "pampering" your bike ever since you owned it? im very curious, cause this is my first sportbike.

Not pampering, just keeping it in optimum condition. Radiator and coolants, $400-$500. Top block, bought as a spare $2000. Second hand hurricane cdi, $200. Yoshi fire spec end can, $800. Second hand Stainless steel header, bought as spare $200. Second hand hurricane header fit onto bike, $250. forgot what I did to my stock header. Lol. HID light bulbs with ballast, $50 a pair. Hella super tone horn, $50 a pair. Chain $240 I think. Clutch plates $220. Later going check my clutch discs and clutch basket. Not sure how much. Oh ya, and bought a "dynojet" from other forumer here, end up its kenzo jet. Checked with hkl already. NB. $170 fly. Free paintwork. Hmm... I think that's all. Bought the bike on 28 dec 2011. :) oh tyres, metzeler m5 sportec for $380 a set. Yamaha R1 barends $70, dropped out on the expressway. Vibrations cause the screw to come loose. :( more to be done yet.

It is more likely due to wear & tear and thats y your clutch plates worn out.. remember that the youngest model (R-Model) bike is already more than 10 years old.. nothing to do with whacking throttle or gently opening throttle.. CBR400 is afterall a sportsbike..

old bird had spoken.

CBR engine is inline 4, swing arm. RVF engine is V4, proarm. RVF fc higher than CBR, pickup faster than CBR. But so far, I haven't encountered a rider who dare go faster than my CBR on Singapore roads, so I think it's the rider that counts.

its either you are really very fast. or you need to go out more often.

Everyday go to work and back home from work. Often enough for me.

buy new fairing or respray better? and you all use stock meter or change to digital one? e.g: koso Rx2n

My mechanic also introduced me to digital Koso meter. But $500 too expensive for me just for a meter. Sanfu motor Autobay@Kaki bukit. Mine not sure stock or not, cos I can show my speed up to 240km/h not like other CBR riders meter up till 180km/h only. If u want, eBay is selling same as mine. €150 and shipping €50 I think. After conversion should be about 300 and 100 shipping.

Mech name Jawa Ng. eBay I look for those parts from Europe, hence the euros €. Don't think they're made In china though. The shipping cost from china to Europe itself costs more than the part itself. Lol. Don't think anyone would wanna do that.
