The sound can be reduced but not eradicated.

I changed all the shims when I did a valve clearance. Bike was silent for 3 mths and now its back but softer.

Yup, when I bought this bike I sent it for a full service, inclusive of valve clearance/shim replacements etc. The noise stopped and I got a very smooth sound from the engine. It's only been a month plus tho' so I'm gonna look out for any changes in the sound.

I used to be a car person. Then one day, I woke up and became a biker.

Ex rides:

Nissan Sunny 1.6

Nissan Cefiro 2.0

Honda CBR 150 R

Honda CBR 400 RR Fireblade

Current rides:

Yamaha 2008 YZF-R1

KIA Cerato Forte 1.6 Well OK sometimes a car comes in handy.

Full service inclusive of shim replacements? *whistle*

There are i think 13 or 14 shims in our bike, the shims alone is $10-$12 each

Engine oil required is 3.5 bots.

Service for vaulve clearance is about $50 - $80

You check the costs and see if this service added up to that much. Coz most bike shops I know tend to replace a few shims each time they do the valve clearance and maybe that is why the sound is back so soon.

Rebuilding my dreams. But first, the gears

1) WP RS Taichi riding jacket

2) WP riding pants

3) Titanium riding gloves

4) Garmine Nuvi 550 GPS (US$259)

5) WP Komine riding boots

6) Arai Helmet

7) The BIKE of course! :cheeky:

Erm... valve clearance is ex wor. And the price is not fixed due to the number of shims that needs replacing.
