Hi to everyone..

Juz trying to do a very simple research on bikers here who ever been in accident with other vehicles who are willing to share your experience, on the process and nature and the turnout of the entire matter.

Felt very curious as I used to be a driver, only recently then become rider. Therefore I've got quite a few friends who got involved in accidents with motor bikes and got claimed quite a hell..

Case number 1..

Friend A is a delivery driver driving a van.. 1 day as his vehicle was stopping at the traffic light junction there was this RVF who came after my friend and parked beside him on the left. Before the traffic light actually turned green the RVF suddenly dropped to the right on my friend's van for no reason. But when comes to claiming the bike won, kept pressing dat becos the van started to roll forward dats y the biker got a shock and then lost control of his motor bike.. Then as you guys noe,, delievery companies they also don want too much trouble, so a little claim involving few hundreds they juz pay off..

Case number 2..

Friend B drives a normal car.. 1 day he stopped his vehicle at a traffic light junction. When the traffic light turns green, he started to engage gear 1 to move off. Concurrently as he began to move off there was this P plate biker who rammed onto his car from behind.. The poor rider actually flew in front over my friend's car towards the junction.. My frantic friend immediately alight to see hows the rider doing.. My friend offered to send the biker to the hospital for a detailed check but the rider insist not to.. He even beg my friend not to do any reporting and agree dat he will pay for my friend's car repairs as he is P plate and don't want any trouble.. My friend being a newbie driver at dat time took pity on him and agreed. Who noes the rider actually go report police on his own and started to claim on my friend.

Eventually my friend have to appear on court several times and finally kena sentenced a fine of $1K + demerit 8 points for reckless driving and failure to confirm safety before moving off..

With all these stories I hope any bikers here who have met with any major or minor accident to share your encounters and to see whether is it really the case whereby the traffic rules will try as much as possible to protect riders as we guys are more vulnerable to the traffic conditions.. Thank you..

case no.2 is totally rediculous of the rider to claim. but also driver fault not to report to idac as even private settlement also got to report.

Traffic accidents sometimes really very tragic.. You drive a 4 wheel.. You killed the innocent sitting on the 2 wheeled.. For a life you've lost, you only get jailed or fine and revoke.. Wats the point in the end.. Its we bikers who really suffer.. Dats y apparently I believe the traffic rules is standing a very much more to the biker's side..

Sad to say, there are really alot of frequent road users who don't know the actual procedures of settling all these 5c 10c thing..

I also once knock onto another person's car from behind.. My car was from rental company, when I handed the car back to the rental they told me they would settle everything for me.. (I've oredi gave them the cash amount they asked for as settlement fee)...

When NTUC insurance called me down for investigation, the fella F me upside down for not reporting to IDAC.. But come on, during BTT and FTT and even on road practical nobody ever taught about IDAC.. The knowledge which ppl generally noes is traffic accident occur, as long as nobody injured no requirement to call police..

Dats y ppl choose not to report.. If ppl out there noes the requirement, I suppose the rate of ppl choosing NOT to report will definitely be much lesser..

In the past we used to be able to do private settlement, no need to go through insurance and everything. Just agree on the amount, sign the form as proof and that's it. I bumped people's car before (when I was parking my car) and it was just a few hundred dollars to knock back and respray, small matter.

Now we have to report every case to the insurance company, and get them to claim big and small. Not only are the amounts now much higher, the premiums are increasing as a result.

i think the new ruling is better.

report every case, whether minor nor major. cover everyone ass.

and also still have the option of private settlement, w/o ncd or premium. affected.

it's the black sheeps out there that does ridiculous claims. :gun:

Reporting to the insurer under the MCF doesn't stop people from settling the claim among themselves.
