How to paint chrome part?

I was wondering if anyone of you know what are the step to prepare chrome part to be painted. I intend to spray my chrome headlight to satin black....

i think what you need to do is sand it then spray primer. anyway its not real chrome you are talking about right?

Thanks for the advice, any good primer to recommend, i did a search on the web there is a mention of kilz primer.....have you heard of it?

First, you have to let known if your headlight body is metal or plastic ?

 

If it's plastic, don't bother to spray over, because it won't stick for long no matter what primer you apply as undercoat.

 

If it's metal, do like what the others have posted earlier.
