Bro, if this happened to me, I'd rather gas it than to risk interacting with such lone policecars.

You're lucky to have met a 'genuine' policeman. It could have been much worse. So many cases of people getting robbed and raped by people posing as policemen, and sometimes even policemen themselves.

Not that I don't respect their police, but I'd rather not take the risk. Anyway, I was riding back at around 6pm, 24th May 2009, and encountered a line of cars around 1km long. At the head of the line was a convoy of around 20 police bikes (STX, VFRs etc) and afew police cars travelling on lane 1 at a constant 120-130km/h, forcing EVERYTHING out of their way into the emergency lane. Trucks, tankers, cars, you name it, came filtering back into the mass of vehicles tailgating the ridiculous convoy.

This went on from Pagoh all the way till JB. I was so pissed with the kind of danger they put the vehicles behind that I almost wanted to blast past the whole lot.

I dunno that he was alone, until I stop to oblige to the call. :(

If I gas it, he may gas it as well to run me down; I am on two & he’s on four and later claimed that I was trying to run away from the ‘police’ :slapforehead:

Why did you give him your IC??

It's norm at every road block when they stopped u for an offence, they will ask for IC / passport + liscense. Policeman in uniform & with patrol car ask me for such thing, I sure try to oblighed, for not wanting to fall into more deep trouble, especially when I am in foreign land. I dont want to be a hero at that point of time.

Only then when the conversation continues, the sense of doubious become stronger :(

Lesson learnt, do stop for those EVOs TP rather than those self proclaimed TPs along the way....

quizesilver, u r right. It is just that quite norm at any traffic offence there (mostly speeding) they will just ask for IC, knowing that u r from SGP. At other country (eg Thailand), knowing that u r not local, they will ask for passport. Anyway, without IC or license I still can cross into SGP, thus I wld rather give IC, if asked for :cheeky:

If on 4-wheel, maybe we can hv the choice to or not to. But with just 2-wheel tortoise, we may risk from being rundown by 'their police car' & claimed that you are trying to run away from their 'routine' duties, later :(

Anyway, since the officer was quite young (late 20s from my jugment), I think its an old trick he tried to inherit from his seniors lah, BUT forgotten that those 'education' is no longer relevant in present contact to some motorised :D

My lucky break that day was when I mentioned abt paying the summons at other town instead of JB, where he then sense problem on his part when learned that there are few police officer at the biking club I assosiate with :cheeky:

Perhaps next time I may want to ON the phone recorder when encounter such incident again. Who knows when u wanna be a hero by continuing to argue & insist want to see the pix, he may say, "let go to balai (station) & I will show it over there". Once reached, there, in his den, its gonna be a diff fabricated story by him altogether :faint:

when i get stopped by the polis on the nshw when driving, normally i know i am speeding. i also lead the conversation rather than have him lead me...and i never pass over any kind of documentation...even when they do ask. am quite happy to hand over the usual 30-50rm and get on with my journey.

i never actually got stopped when i wasn't speeding. the 1 time i was stopped when driving at 130kmh, i told the fella i was not speeding and he let me off.

your situation is rather unique in that he stopped you the moment you passed him while he was parked. this is really unusual. most times there will be a road block.

i did encounter 1 situation when the polis was driving at night on the right lane at 120kmh without siren lights. i was going fast and was flashing my lights at all the cars that were in front of me when i see them from 100m out. this fella did not budge till i was 15m behind him...by which time i realized its the polis...and i just knew i'd be stopped. so i slowed down to 110kmh, passed him...and sure enough...siren lights came on. well, i only stopped for 2 minutes.

i think its a bad idea to speed off because you never know if there are more polis in front. best is to stop and lead the conversation and prepare 30-50rm before your trip. they are straightforward to deal with this way, and friendly too.

enjoy your ride on my favourite highway!
