Yo bikers, can anyone share or give comment on this bike? Haven't seen this new transalp on s'pore road yet, n what's de price?

Let me start the ball rolling n share some information on this bike.

Is originally a 600cc machine production way back in 1987! Cosmetically revised in 1994 n redesigned to 650cc at year 2000!! A full-fledged to 700cc at 2008 till now!!! It has a very strong following in Europe thanks to de bulletproof engine n awesome riding experience!

Good engine but looks :faint: But hey that's my opinion.

Look at Yamaha, new Tenere.

Look at BMW, new 800GS, even big brother 12GS/A also very pretty...

Honda! WAKE UP! After A.Twin, they fell asleep..

RIDE

Transalp is to take over the market of the African Twin, so the looks also a bit like that, it's not as squarise already. Performance ok, can get the job done, but not impressive.

I also considering getting one after getting my class 2. :)

Quite like the small, compact look.

IMO...i began to love the bike...the outlook is growing on me....

It's tough to choose between the XT660Z tenere and the Transalp700...

with the same pricetag, but totally different built..

A big single and a V-twin...

If i were to throw my money on either one,i would bet on the Transalp.

The tenere, however, may get the things done in every way...i believe the transalp is capable to...but with more effort and time.but it still does it.

The tenere will shine on the very start...but in terms of long term reliability, comfort, and a more practical bike for the long running for keeps,i think the Transalp would stay around.

It's just that the pricetag is beyond my reach...:(

GROWTH ON TRANSALP: 87' Till Current

With 59bhp this 700cc V-Twin isn't going to impress us with breathtaking performance. But the Honda has always done the job! Look wise funky, versatile, practical, user-friendly & easy to ride. An ideal for leaners or more experienced riders who want something different!

The big difference is that Tenere is a single, Transalp is a V twin. It will depend on whether you want to tour or just want some offroad fun. Most likely if you are making committed tours up north you will want something with better mid to top end for the big highways, ie. Transalp.

i know..that's what i just said did'nt I?i was comparing the machines for value with the same price tag...

but who really wants to spend a SGD$21grand for off-road fun?you?

there are many big singles dirtbikes can do,go,and basically will handles whatever the tenere is able...it's just up to the rider...

So unless you're having loads of money to spend, the SGD$21grand for some offroad fun means nothing...

Usually,i can say mostly, those who bought over-priced bikes, don't like their machines to be dirty....

Transalp 700cc is likely the bike i will upgrade to from my Vara 125. I'll be bypassing 2A bikes coz there's none that catches my fancy.....unless i can find some nice modded cruisers. Anyways for a dependable bike for touring up north with some light off road touring, i think transalp is the answer. To me, the Tenere looks more comfy off roading. I guess the 2 bikes serves 2 different functions.

Why not the XL1000V Varadero instead?

Do agreed with some bro comments!

Both big singles or twin are strong performer in a wide range of riding situations, from urban commuting through highways touring(vibration & narrow seat made yr butt suffer on de singles) and off road exploring(but de singles hve more torque & fun here cos of their light weight).

Anyway is still depends on individual. Not a big adventure fan, sure will choose on de working-horse Honda V-Twin Transalp!!:cheeky:

well...same same....

The price is definately about the same as the Deuville700 too...both bikes share the same engine.

So if comparing dollars and syilings on the Deuville700 and the Transalp,of coz...transalp...only plus point on the deuville is the shaft drive...

If not mistaken,i some ol friends told me that the Honda Africa Twin 750 RD07 sold for more than SGD$20k back in those days where it 1st launch here.

The price only reduce slightly to SGD$18k after their few generations after.

My opinion, buying an adventure motorcycle doesn't necessarily have to make a hole in your pocket. So do consider on 2nd hand XL700V or its smaller sibling XL650V (1987-2007). Transalp isn't about frugal motoring a quality build & endless reliability. Regularly serviced should go on forever!!

true...

well...the problem to wait for a 2nd hand XL700V is that,we dunno how many unit that has been sold...i havent even seen once on Singapore road.

Before i bought the AT last feb,was really contemplating on the TA650.

The deal almost seal with a friend, but my budget is just abit off...so i settle for the AT...which somehow,a little regret not to get the TA...well,it can wait.

Do consider the kawa versys 650, i believe that the specs and performance is better ( sorry, i bias toward parallel twin than V-twin :cheeky: ), anyway its much cheaper in price tag ( S17K++ )

Just my humble suggestion.

IMHO, for my usage, 1000cc is overkill for me. I saw the Vara 1k and it looks too big lah, heavy also if go light off road. I like how the TA 700 looks like, compact and modern. Comfy for commuting, add panniers already enuff for touring. Plus......important.......MHA approves of it. I think i'll get a 1st hand TA 700 when the time comes.

I want to see the world and i'm pretty sure the world wants to show a little something to me.

Yup u r right AJ..bro, not to talk about 2nd hand XL700V now, even de XL650V r less & hard to find aswell! But i believe we'll see more of this middleweight rally trailies on s'pore roads in future!!

Africa Twin still looks superd & a close relative of Transalp to me!

oh wow...it weights 218kg...that's about 25kg more than a TDM900...:cheeky:

now you know why it's so hard to let my TDM go...

seriously,i don't understand why all the big duallies are now using 19inch front wheel rather than 21...all the new traillies have very low ground clearance...are the modern people getting shorter?

I am 1.77m...not that tall...but sitting on these current modern bikes having to flat foot on the ground, don't seems to be appealing to me...what's more having to attack ruts and bumps offroading won't be so sweet on a low ground clearance bike...why can't they have the same swingarm like the AT,why not the taller front end consisting of the AT fork and 21inch wheel?

If this is fitted in,the bike would see better sales...everythg from engine, tank, headfairings, are attractive...
