was there any contact between the both of you? whose insurance are you trying to file a claim? your own or his? from what i understand comprehensive insurance you can claim your insurance. but if you are trying to claim against his insurance then there will be more factors, any contact, since driver drove off did you record his plate number, was there any witness that will testify for you etc.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

no contact with the driver, as he drove off... & i was spinning on the ground, trying to stop & everything happen so fast ...

I am thinking of claiming my own insurance, can the claim be 100% or partial? is there any procedures? Or should I simply ride in my bike workshop, let them evaluate the damages $ & then let them do the claiming on my behalf at the same time?

Thanks!

If the damages are superficial, or low amount, try not to claim from your own insurance. Your NCD gone and next year premium will probably have to add loading.

While I'm not pro in insurance stuff, I think it's prudent that should you decide to proceed, first call up your insurance tmr to check a number of things:

- Authorized workshop only?

- Any independant assesment (e.g. IDAC) required?

- Any extra loading for next renewal, if yes, how many years?

- Co-insurance amount?

my front & side fairing is broken, so i definitely have to change new ones. & i check the online pricing on those damage OEM parts, will cost me about 1.5k++ ...

roger tat, will give them a call 1st thing tomorrow morning. If my NCD were to go up the following year, can i switch to a new insurance company?

- mine is an authorized workshop

- will check with the insurance company on monday, did a check online, its been 3days since the accident, isit ok still to send in?

- what kind of "extra" loading?

- co-insurance amout?

thanks!

NCD - No Claims Discount, even if you change insurance company, they will also double check with your "old" one, so it doesn't change anything...

"Loading" is term the insurance industry use for the additional amount on top of the "standard" premium you have to pay. Let's say based on your age/experience/bike profile, the annual premium is $200, but due to claims, an additional loading of 30% is applied. That means when you renew, your premium will be $200 + $60 = $260.

"Co-insurance" is the maximum amount you have to pay in the event of claim. Let's say your policy carries a co-insurance amount of $500. That means that if there's a claim of $1800, you have to bear $500, and the insurance will pay the remaining $1300. This amount should be stated in your policy, but since you're calling them up, doesn't hurt to double confirm.

i'm a 23 yr old rider with 3 years riding experience and 15% last year for renewal with ban hock hin last year.

i had a minor accident last december which TP favoured me, and NTUC paid me a sum of money for the days i missed work. however today i received a letter from the insurance saying that my insurance will be paid in full due to the accident. how could it be leh? its not my fault i claimed against ntuc and they paid bhh for the charges and etc.

i'm confused and will be confused till ban hock hin reopens this monday to reply my email.
