Hi, I need some help here, does anyone know what is the penalty for hit and run non injury case? I got knocked over by a car passenger opening his door at the carpark and I landed on the bonnet of another parked car. The driver asked me if I was injured or not but I was so angry at the passenger and the driver that I just scolded them and rode off. I forgot about the scratches left on the bonnet of the parked car and now both the car drivers lodged a police report against me. I got this hit and run minor damage letter a week letter and had to make a police report with my insurance cert.

 

Called up the investigating TP officer to ask more about the case and he talked to me as if I offended him. What kind of trouble am I in?

The only person that can answer that is the investigating officer. That is why in these type of situation a cool head is needed. Since it already happen and cannot turn back time, best way is to be truthful in your statements to the police and see what they can advice you.

Looks like both parties are rear ending you.hmmm but usually if even minor scuffs is considered an accident be it a small dent or scratch.prolly the guy in the car is claiming and left his contact on the victims car that you land on.so it is best to seek your paralegal advisor regarding your case,cause by the victim's car that you land on,is considered hit and run.

 

As for the officer,prolly he is running through hhis period or workload ,you nvr now.....i hope you all the best in ur case,cause i undestand the vunerability that a rider face.

Sounda like u squeezing by the car when the passenger open the door. If that is the case. Jia lat liao. Plus u fled the scene and not talk it out b4 u left. Bad move as well. For all u know. He may have damaged his car furthur and claimed u did all that damage. Plus now its 2 owners againts 1. U in a very very very bad position. Now kena letter claiming u hit and run. U mite wanna sleep with your lisence. Bathe with it. Eat with it. Play with it. Run down the beach as the sun set with it.....

I was riding my bike past this stationary car when his door swung open and hit me, my whole bike tilted to a 40 degree angle and the barend hit a parked car's bonnet.

 

There was no MC thus legally no injury on my part, thanks for the helpful comments, people, really appreciate it.

 

Now I just have to wait for my punishment to be meted out and hopefully, I won't repeat this mistake again.

1) You are suppose to keep a certain distance riding past any stationary car.

 

2) Since you have no injuries, and you did not suffer much damage to your bike.

 

Speak to your insurer and a lawyer. Its probable that you can transfer the costs of the damages from the 2nd car to the car owner that lets his passenger open car door without checking behind for oncoming traffic. Especially if you were not riding in between the kerb and the stationary car.

actually u should not move away from the accident scene. i kanna the same thing at expo a few weeks back. was trying to go into the carpark of expo while squeezing between pavement and a car when the car door suddenly open and knock me off balance. luckily i was going very slow and bike fell and hit the kerb. got some scratches on new paintwork on the faring and my pillion fell and suffered some minor scratches on her hand. after tending to my pillion, i calmed down and spoke with the driver. took down the license plate and exchanged contacts.

 

called the person after i got a quote from bikeshop for repairs and managed to get 300+ from him for repairs + pillions medical fees.

 

in ur case, u could have stopped and take photos and win the case if u have calmed down and handled the situation properly. can even claim from the car driver gao gao cos the driver is responsible for his passengers.

Guys just to update, I managed to locate the driver of the car whose bonnet I scratched and I paid him after he presented a receipt to me and the transaction was done at the NPP where I updated my case (paid him). I have not received any fine or traffic demerit points so I assume the case is settled since it has been more than a year.
