Anybody in this line? The certification costs 5k+, and can be completed in 7 weeks. Is there a demand for this job?

This job is not bad. Demand also quite high, some of my friends manage to find job after grad, working in town council and office building. Working hours "flexible" also. I got my diploma in Facilities Management from Ngee Ann Poly.

I would say this job require good PR skill (communicate with tenants or residents), technical knowledge must be good (so that contractor will not "hiong" you easily). But 1 thing to take note is that it's good to have a Fire Safety Manager Cert which have to go through SCDF.

Maybe I can share a little about the "flexible" working hour. If you are working in shopping center, taking care the property, some maintenance work have to be carried out during late hours. Why I know is becoz my project mates and I had film a video about escalator maintenance in one of the shopping mall. The maintenance starts from 10.30pm to past midnight.

For office buildings, some maintenance and A&A work can only carry out during weekend as it is too noisy.

For town council, I heard from my friend that have to attend RC meetings at night and the MP visits which is usually on the weekend.

Last but not least, this job require to be pro-active rather than reactive.

This job is always on the move and meeting people. So it is suitable for those who do not like routine job. :)

I have half the mind to quit my job now and move to another smaller site. Where there is promises of sponsorship for training.

My current estate now is somehow biggest and oldest of sorts. Its killing me here.

Can any brave soul, with the qualifications, please take over from me at a lowly pay of 2k a month.

Please please please!

Source for those managing agents, who willing to take on the job for 24k per year contract. They could manage it far better with network of handyman, cleaners, contractors, and also use existing workers onsite to get the management going. That is if your boss agrees, becos his job will be on the line!!!

If you ready wanna in this line, get Fire Safety Manager (FSM) certificate first. If not, you may find yourself neither here & there.

Only places that FSM is not necessary is residential property.

FSM is not so easy to pass now adays, then I suggest pass FSM before you enroll into property Manager course.

Residential property need not FSM at the moment, however you must have good PR & prepared to swallow many nonsenses from home owner. If not, you become another type of FSM - Fast sure mati.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3:16
