omgwtf.. how many times must this type of similiar question be asked..

if can sticky the below, i think can save quite abit of bandwidth.

suggested solution to laying up bike (assuming you do not have the relevant license):

1) view bike. happy with bike? confirm deal with the seller.

2) ask the seller to ride the bike to the location you are going to layup. (bike workshop or your house carpark)

2a) hdb carpark can? as of nov 2008, CAN.

3) go to lta @ sin ming with the seller. pay him the $$, do a transfer ownership of the bike AND at the same counter, get the layup vehicle form also.

3a) how much is laying up of vehicle? $5+. (thanks DeXirant for the heads up)

3b) who is going to pay for transfer of ownership of vehicle ah? pls discuss with your seller. should be abuot $70+.

4) REMEMBER to buy season parking for your bike if its at hdb carpark.

5) no need insurance for the bike? as of nov 2008, ITS NOT COMPULSORY.

6) in an unfortunate event, what if the bike got burnt? you cannot claim anything. maybe you can find the person at sue him for personal damages under civil law. in short, LPPL DING DONG BELL.

7) can ride the bike around the car park? Read *. STICTLY speaking, NO NO NO.

8) then bike battery will flat leh.. how? start your bike once in a few days.

9) can sit on the bike? read *. BUT, there were stories in the forum whereby someone sit on the bike, start engine. authorities caught him and his license was revoked. probably cos there was intention to ride the bike. so to play safe, dont do it.

to unlay the bike:

1) call your preferred insurance company to buy your insurance for the bike.

2) TOW the bike to inspection centre, pass inspection and buy your road tax.

2a) har, still must tow ah.. can ride there or not? read *. Strictly speaking, NO NO NO.

EASIER way to it:

1) TOW your bike to your favourite bikeshop. ask them to send it to inspection, buy road tax and insurance for you. if you arrange with them early. it will take a day, at most 2.

*GENERALLY, do anything you want, DONT GET caught.

license or no license, as long as bike is laid up, nobody can ride it. the only practical solution is to tow.

@mods if any are reading this. think should find a way to educate new posters because the search function is tough to use as a newbie...

for private seller, can request him/her ride back to your car park.

for shop, normally they suggest park at their shop :sian:
