Hey guys, got into my first accident last Monday night. I have done some research as to what to be done after the accident but now have some queries with regards to making a claim against the other party insurance.

I guess I shouldnt right too much as it is still under investigation by the TP but what basically happened was I was going straight and was knocked down by a car turning right at a small junction. I was immediately conveyed to A&E by ambulance.

On Tues, I towed my bike to Idac as well as made a police report. On Wed, I went down TP HQ expecting an interview but the IO just photocopied my insurance, driving license, IC, MC, my police report as well as my pillion ic and MC. She did not even ask me for interview. Is this normal? I asked her who would most likely win the case and she said it was in my favour.

I was told that I could claim against the other party insurance with any workshop as an intermediary. Is it better to do it via a workshop recognised by Mitsui, AXA and NTUC or not?

I paid for my medical bills with my SAF 11B. Is it advisable to do so or should I tell the hospital to bill to my house so I can claim medical bills as well as damages to me and bike as a package?

Any recommended workshop to deal with claiming insurance?

Thanks guys for the help..

u have to check the insurance company of the other party. some require you to bring to their recognised workshops.

The other party's insurer cannot enforce this against third party claimants. This condition is for the insurer's own customers (first party claims). Third party claimants can repair wherever they like.

However, the insurer can still benchmark the claim amounts against what they think is a fair amount, and dispute that a workshop's expenses are too high.

He who hesitates is lost!
