hello all,

i'm pretty new to bikes, but i somehow gt tempted to go 2 wheel.

so as of now, i noe tat motorcycles are seperated into 3 classes here in sg, 2b, 2a and 2. and the difference i ald noe.. tests wise my bro and my other older frens hav oso told me.. so rite now, i'm juz curious about wad bikes shld i ride bcos i recall my bro saying height can limit the bikes i ride. i'm 1.7m tall/short, and my aim is rs125. i read ard in the forum and heard others say tat its a expensive to maintain bike and stuff liddat.. previously, i was considering nsr150 sp, but my bro was saying if i really wanted a bike shld go for new de.

so here are my questions:

1. are new aprilias stil coming in? or they ald stopped? if stil hav new de ard how much does one cost? coe is ard 900+ i read(?)

2. nsr150 ald stop production as of wad i noe, and those out there hav been "abused" by others b4. question is, how many ppl encounter problematic bikes?

3. any chances of new sports bikes within 2b class being released in the next 2 years? (yea i noe tis question is stupid.. but stil, maybe some wil noe.)

5. other than license tests cost, insurance cost (ard 700 for a newbie rite?), coe, wad other stuffs are there to look out for for a new biker?

4. tis question's personal, for a 170 to ride sports bikes lik aprilias and nsrs, isit a bit big for me?

thx to those tat reply, and ps if i post wrong thread, nt very gd wif forums :cheeky:

1. dunno, try the aprilia thread? u could request quotations from bike shops..see the advertisers section for contact details

2. most sp have been around for some time, high chance of ever experiencing mechanical faults, its really up to u to scout for the ones in good condition..

3. well, r150 was just released recently..off the top of my head, alr got yamaha r125, honda cbr125 and cbr150, daelim rwr125, derbi gpr 125, cagiva mito, aprilia rs125, old favs sp and kr, hyosung has a 125cc version iirc..why stick with 2b when the next two years can get u class 2? =x

5. licence, insurance, road tax, season parking, er..erp? insurance costs balloon esp

call up respective companies for quotations, insurance for brand new bikes cost more as well.

4. both male+female riders

since areal has already answered most of your questions... i will just add on to hers with regards to your first question.

as far as i know, there is production up till this year (2009). and i think there will still be production next year. but whether the shop bring it in, is another question.

welcome to the 2 wheelers family.

but if u intending to upgrade to higher CCs bikes. i will suggest u try not to spend all the cash to get a first hand 2b bike.

1. are new aprilias stil coming in? or they ald stopped? if stil hav new de ard how much does one cost? coe is ard 900+ i read(?)

Ans : will still have new 1 lah... my collegue juz bought 1 FBD plate Aprilla RS125... coe have to check with the motordiam. recently i heard it's about 900++.

2. nsr150 ald stop production as of wad i noe, and those out there hav been "abused" by others b4. question is, how many ppl encounter problematic bikes?

Ans : i believe most people encounter problems on their 1st 2nd hand bikes and i believe thru all these problems encountered and checking with trusted motordiams, new riders will get to learn more about how their bikes behave and to take care, maintain and also to DIY on their bikes rite?

if u want less problematic bikes, try to get direct from bikes owners or motordiams with good reputations.

3. any chances of new sports bikes within 2b class being released in the next 2 years? (yea i noe tis question is stupid.. but stil, maybe some wil noe.)

Ans : got alot liaozzz...

5. other than license tests cost, insurance cost (ard 700 for a newbie rite?), coe, wad other stuffs are there to look out for for a new biker?

Ans :

paying Full cash for the bike? or installment? if installment, the charges might be alittle bit more expensive... some motordiams may give u benefits for early settlement of installment on bikes. have to check with them and tell them to write down in BLACK and WHITE for u, in case the change their words... u still have it in black and white for ur protection

insurance :

i see u r interested in fairing bikes... i m not sure but insurance will increase if u r:

1. riding a fairing bikes

2. P plate

3. younger @ age

also wat type of insurance policy u r getting? and from which insurance company...? full coverage? 3rd party, fire and theft?...etc

4. tis question's personal, for a 170 to ride sports bikes lik aprilias and nsrs, isit a bit big for me?

Ans : cls 2b sportsbike for ur height is still consider rather small(as in the bike size for u) or jus nice for sp, kips, cbrs, tzm, aprilla lor... people will still tell u :"u look better in R1,R6,CBR6,CBR1...etc..." so no need to worry abt the bike size 1 lahhh... :cheeky:

above is jus my own experience so far... do correct me if i m wrong.
