currently i just upgraded my front rotor to wave rotor and AP racing pad.

my ride is ST1100

at highway speed 80-100km/hr

when i just lightly tap and hold on my front brake, i feel the vibration.

but at low speed, below 80, it brakes normal.

is it due to air bubble in the brake system or brake piston maybe giving signal that is time to rebuilt my brake system?

lastly, where could i do my brake system? good workshop pls...

Pulsating feeling or throbbing feeling when applying brakes usually means a warped rotor.

However, you mentioned the rotor is new? Then maybe have to check if you have torqued the disc bolts to the wheels evenly. Like engine covers, bolts should be torqued in a criss cross pattern.

only at high speed i would feel it

low speed, it brakes like normal, could it be air bubble in the brake system?

could i go over your place and help me take a look at the problem?

not sure if meng tong is free to help me check... haha

i also done a press for my front fork too. could this be the problem?

Sounds like warp disc.. Hope it's covered by warranty.. Better get them checked..

went to the bikeshop that fix for me

they say is due to the floating disc n the wave, therefore i am having this feeling at high speed....

could it be the pad is faulty?

one of my disc isn't smooth. as in i touch it, it is not smooth, but the other side is smooth.

or could it be, they never aligned the fork correctly? as i know my fork had bend

I tot floating disc is suppose to reduce the chances of brake jutter due to disc warp? And the wave got nothing to do w it.. Tired a ZX6 before and braking was smooth.. Hope the shop won't give u silly reasons and will fix/replace it for u.. If not den revert to stock setup.. IMO ST11 is one of the few bikes that is perfect, dun have to change anything..

What brand is the wave disc?? Is it the Braking STX series??

So... the shop is saying that it is NORMAL to have vibrations when braking at high speeds?? :faint:o_O

Ask the mechanic if his bike was behaving like that... would it be acceptable to him?? This is really talking cork. :thumb:

Can tell us which bike shop is this so that the rest of us won't get conned???

A floating disc will not reduce brake chattering if it is warped. It may reduce the chance of a warped disc.

One of the advantages of a floating disc is... it will prevent brake dragging and heat buildup becuase the brake pads will be not be always on contact with the disc. The 'free play' of the disc will push the brake pistons back allowing the disc to rotate freely.
