Lets just put it this way.. my front tires became stucked after I brake at the traffic light, its like my calipers are still gripping onto my discbrake. What I meant by "engine going against the tire" is since the tires are stucked, my bike is going against the force of the stucked tire. And due to that, the discbrake became super hot and there's a slight burn smell..

i kinda agree with raven77... i also think the brake pump mechanism is spoilt... anyway all u haf to do is to change the brake pump seals and stuff...

how much u paid for the rubber thingy at ur caliper?? coz the brake pump replacement cost abt 60 or 80bucks.. i cant remember exactly...

i highly doubt its ur caliper or brake disc...

anyway hope this helps. good luck.

if i am not mistaken.. its ur caliper.. it needs to be serviced.. d piston in d caliper pushing against the brake pad might have gotten jammed.. so ur pads do not retract... did ur bike fall or somethign recently??? dat might have gotten it jammed.. but rest assured u need not change the whole caliper...

try spraying wd 40 on those movable parts... .After a few days ride see still have a not. Not point paying $$ for shop to have that solved as it's doesn't affect any of the bike performance. my bike too have that problem at the rear after spraying solved.

Which one is the movable parts? Disc Brake? Calipers?

Check if ur pads are worn out first, could be the metal rubbing against the disc.. If it's ok u can apply copper grease on the BACK of the pads the eliminate the squeaky sound..

dont spray on either of these. else gone case...

i would think ur problem is e pads seriously, though u shld always lubricate those "moving" parts like bolts and nuts(depress ur brake and see those nuts/joints that move).....

urs will squeak even though u dun depress ur brake pads... therefore i really think its ur pads.... how old are ur pads anyway?

if its just a light ssssshhhhhhhh sound.... its quite normal.... unless it sounds like EEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!

Haha NightPhantom.. you sure hit the spot man.... The same thing happen again, this time, only my left disc brake was damn hot, I suspected as my bike was a lil slow as i accelerate and there was a stench of rubber burning smell when my bike was put to a halt.. So i touched both disc brake.. only my left hand side was hot.. Guess the caliper on my LEFT side is still gripping onto the disc. ARGGG!

In addition, there was a taxi which did an emergency brake, i did my normal braking and I do not know why but my front tire skid alil like as if my tire was locked...

brake piston??right??

just pump the level after u take out the caliper & the brake pad the piston will just drop out. must use g clamp to put back after that.

Hi,

If you use this method of pressing the brake lever and trying to pop out the pistons from the caliper, I'm afraid you'll only get to pop ONE piston only. You're using the brake fluid the pistons but once ANY one of the 4 pistons is out of the caliper, you have no more pressurised fluid to help you push the remaining pistons.

You'll need compressed air to pop the remaining pistons out. Choke/block all orifices of the caliper with rags and pump in compressed via the bleed port. It may take some time and strength to choke the orifices but the pistons should pop out eventually.

I serviced my entire S4 brakes (master cylinders, calipers, front and rear) on my own with the help of compressed air. I had the same problem as ZeekyZacky with my front calipers seizing up after 15 mins of riding. Too much dirt and grim were lodged in the calipers. I was stingy and didn't plan to change the o-rings and was quite lucky that none was torn or damaged when I inspected them.

You can look up some of my posts.

I also posted something on the design flaws of the Nissin master cylinder found on the S4. Useful for those that wants to service the master cylinder themselves.

:)
