EO more than a year ?

ok, before you'all asking me what the heck.. here is the situation.

 

I have a buddy who's car is scrapped for about a year (almost going to a year.), so one day he randomly opens his storeroom, and in a box there is a bottle of shell helix 5w40 EO, unopened... Well then he offered to sell it to me...

 

 

now, here comes the questions...

 

1) even the EO is unopened, will the EO quality be affected when storing for quite a prolong period.

 

2) lets say if the EO is left there for quite sometime, will its viscosity or properties change?

 

3) lets say its recommended not to get, but what about those carlube EO which is left on shelf for a long time too, then people start to buy for clearance sales...?

 

hmm lets hear some input and lets some bros here learn!

1yr is not very long. even foodstuff hav shelf-life of abt 2yrs
