try shoot using P mode (aka "Professional" mode). then see what was the setting used by this mode. if outcome is good, then set the same setting in manual.

if manual mode still turn out dark, u can increase ISO and exposure compensation.

hop this helps.

I am thinking of getting the D70 through instalments plan .. But I am afraid the camera is too good for mi ..

Should I play with my current one first .. get to know more on maunal functions then invest on the D70?

I really love my friend Dslr when I start shooting with it ..

But if i really invest on the D70 .. I would also like to sell my current dig. cam away .. I bought it like nearly $1k about 1.5yrs back ..

Then we can ride around and shoot .. at the same time u all can imparts skills to mi ..

it is not abt what a cam can do for you, it is what u can do with the cam.

so, that sums up to the learning curve you are at.

speaking from experience, initially i dont like nature, esp macro.

after joining outings, i got the hook, shooting dragon fly, butterfly and etc.

dslr is indeed a good platform for those who wants to seriously learn and enjoy photography.

anyway, if you need some help, can also ask around, or meet up to discuss abt it.

A95 is the latest Powershot right. Have not seen it yet, but I'm using the Powershot A80. Should be quite similar. I like the swivel screen design...very convenient for awkward angles. Wish it had a remote tho and an intervalometer. Sigh...when can I get a DSLR with those featues...:lovestruck: A95 is 5Mp and 4.2X Optical Zoom right? More power than mine, but cheaper... no one can keep up with the digital advancements. Well still I'm happy enough with my camera.

if ur bluish tint is A80, then something must be wrong with the initial one, but not to dismiss the possibility of white balance setting. normally, auto white balance is good enuf to cover many conditions of lighting.

not very true, esp on consumer cam. even on some pro-consumer cam.

so far i have tried olym, fuji, nikon & canon consumer cam, and i will respect their AWB.

in most conditions, AWB able to perform and i would say pretty accurate.

as for pro-consumer, it is a different league, different ball game where flexibility to cater for different lighting condition must be made available.

i participated in the photomarathon 2004, a competition where participants are required to complete 3 themes (given at 9am, 1pm and 5pm).

all participants need to rush back to ACS (contest held there) to upload photos to server before they give out the subsequent theme.

so, here is my submission for theme 1... My World

2nd & 3rd theme submission coming your way...... stay tune.....
