btw, someone mentioned abt old playgrounds..sounds like a good idea... Can tell me where its located. Think it'll be very nostalgic.

Which sunday? Dis sunday I can. Preferably early morning cos I will come after my night shift ending at 7am. Shoot photos for a 1 or 2 hours den go home sleep liao.

hi,am a newbie in photography,got myself a casio QV-40R 4Mpixel with 3x optical zoom...but later found out tat the most inportant thing beside the magepixel is the zooming capabilities...is there anyone whose wking or schooling in NTU or staying in jur area that can help me? i also got a nikon FE10 SLR camera with 70mm zooming len(but dun know hw to use)

i think main draw for canon is affordability and the availability of 3rd party lens/accessories

reason why i choose "can-on" over nikon was becoz

1. it has many accessories (eg: wide range for lenses)

2. more user friendly interface

 

abt 3rd party lenses, the same goes to nikon, minolta as well. ahhh.. . it is also cheaper.

 

consumer DC (digital cam) from canon is very user friendly, would recommend it to those want to buy one.

u are right, my sentiment tell the same thing as what you have summerized.

 

another thing to note is that a nice photo does not come from a good camera.

it is the photographer that makes the diff.

Canon ah ... not bad. Each has it's pros and cons. The press like to use Canon cos of sponsorship, hence cheaper. Nikon is still a preferred choice among some pro.

 

3rd party lens r easily available for Canon and Nikon bodies mah ... Sigma, Tokina, Tamron produces lens for the two .. isn't it?

yup... all the 3rd party lens manufacturer produces for the major camera brands...

but somehow, i find nikon 3rd party lens still more ex. i wonder why

btw i'm using tamron 50th anniversary commemorative model for my lens, great all purpose lens.

 

nikon used by most pros. mainly sponsored though. its higher end are excellent models, but way out of my league (budget wise)

maybe many ppl using canon, thus pushing the price higher. imagine this, some ppl may offer to buy a 2H lens at nearly the same price of a new one, but of course depending on the availability.

 

given a chance, i would like to have canon and nikon in my dry cabinet.

btw, how many us here has the high end camera with high end lenses?

most of my lenses are 3rd party. as long as the pics quality satisfy me, myself and I, then i see no problem. unless hit by either one of the virus called BUYBUYBUY or UPGRADE-UPGRADE-UPGRADE virus.

 

i have spent more $$ than on my bike.......

SLR accessories are dam ex man. I'm a noob to photography and when I saw this filter...i think juz a simple color filter only it cost $100+ man. I mean...duh..whats it made of? High power telescope glass ah? Hmm...I'm not well versed in SLR cameras and accessory yet, so maybe can't appreciate the prices. But like all things, sometimes due to brand or popularity, producers price their products ludicrously.

 

Anyway, hope to get a DSLR with a powerful zoom lens and image stabiliser in a years time hopefully. Wait for bonus...if got. Lol. Times are tough man...

Any one here using Canon 300D? I am using Canon EOS system so thinking of adding a DSLR soon. Would like to have 1D but no budget so next better choice looks like the 300D. Any comments from here would be great.
