wah lau brudder, 1D is very expensive. i can only dream of it.

imo, yr next dslr purchase will be very much depending on your current camera.

if u are using eos3/5/1V/1N, then u should forget about 300D. buy 10D instead.

but news spreading around that canon is going to launch a new successor for 10D sometime last quarter of this year.

as 300D is the entry level into dslr, it is very good for beginner.

i think it will keep a beginner occupied for at least 6 months playing with it.

if u buy 1D, please let me try out, OK?

Ok, will keep your advise in mind. I am using EOS 50 and 5 now. I thought 10D already stop production after the release of 300D? But since new 10D will be out soon, I will wait and see lo. I am anyway more interested in 10D.

I also hear that not all lense for normal SLR can be used on DSLR, ture? I have few Cannon lense, L and USMII. I also have a Tokina 400mm which I like very much, so I hope all my lense can be used.

We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing.

definately all your L lenses and USMII can be used on dslr.

EF-S lens - can be mounted on ONLY 300D

EF lens - can be mounted on ALL Canon body.

another thing to note is the FLM (focal length multiplier) of dslr.

due to it sensor size arae which is smaller compare to normal 35mm film camera, 300D and 10D will have FLM of 1.6x (a bit cheem).

OK, for example if u used 28-135 lens on dslr, the

effective focal length will be 44.8(=28x1.6)mm - 216(=135x1.6)mm equivalent on 35mm.

According to the poster I saw at Suntec, the Hippo and Ducktour ride, it said the HK one is on the 15th. US and local ones were the last two sundays respectively.

Yah...definitely must go. =) Someone told me the HK one will be the best of the lot cos they have lots of experience launching fireworks. btw, the Natn'l Day fireworks were very original and nice. Saw it from my home...nice man! That was french rite?

yah d bridge gives a fantastic view. the nex one i'll go reccee the bottom of the bridge, nearer to marina bay, so can get the fireworks against the city skyline. u going? maybe can go together.

yes its possible to do that. at least last time lah, 3-4 yrs back...dunno if they'll close it up for this event or forever. its VERY dark under d bridge a flashlight will be handy.

siong for 10 mins only...for me ok cos my A80 screen can swivel out. but might be too close also..my cam dun have wide convrter. so stay on top of bridge?

park yr bikes at millenia walk as it is nearer to shears bridge.

pic that i took was from shears bridge.

but for this weekend, i will be somewhere else.

i dont like the lighting of cbd skyline effect giving a bright sky on top of the buildings. if you dont mind, then it is ok.

then where u goin??

got external light source got gd got bad la..can use shorter shutter speeds which will be better coz spore fireworks somehow damn cluttered wan..u dun wan to catch too many fireworks overlapping..1 or 2 would be just nice..if 3 or 4..the whole picture becomes beri messy..not nice..haha

definately not from shears bridge unless i the place i intend to go is fully 'chop' by ppl. marina sq, prominade, esplanade will be very crowded. VERY VERY crowded. as u know, i'll be bringing along my stuffs, so a too crowded place may be a restriction for me, must take care of camera bag, tripod, wallet etc...

so, it is very clear liao, i think u can guess where i'll be on this coming sunday....
