@rin, congratulations to the birth of your beautiful new Falcon!! nice one dude!! sure made alot of us drool here. dun worry about the paintwork. it wont turn yellow so easily, especially your colour isn't white, but PEARL WHITE. just make sure you do not always leave it in the sun. if you park in the open, cover it up. wash and wax often and it is really really advisable to go for sealant treatment. i protected my K6 in such a way and i can tell you that it still looked brand new. you can also take a look at Keratsini's K6. he took great care of it too. if you need a good workshop which can provide reliable, good quality paintwork services, do call me at 96391696. i know where to bring you. enjoy the birth of your Falcon! :thumb:

@rin, since compression of your K8 is higher, naturally, it heats up faster. however, do not worry it will boil your family jewels. get a crotch guard if you are afraid. problems will be soothed with a tank bra as it absorbs heat from the tank and wont get to your balls. :D if you still feel very hot, probably you have to get a better coolant into your radiator.

Thanks HYB80Y for the intensive advise.. will keep that in mind though not sure how sealant treatment works??

Hey man, if you have really made up your mind on a bra, ignore what I said and just carry on with your initial plan lah. From what I know, Motoworld would ask you to order for a custom white bagster tankbra. not sure the price though, but the more crucial question would be, HOW LONG WOULD IT TAKE FOR IT TO ARRIVE?

Not to forget that after getting the white tankbra, you would be tempted to get a white tank bag to go with it... hehehe

Its oklah...not that next week Im going riding far North or something...so,I havent decide just yet...went to Looi's and paiseh the tank bra are BEIGE in colour...I managed to persuade myself not to go to motoworld as Im still in 'EXCITED' mode.....I scared I bought all the unnecessary and ugly stuff and my bike will end up looking like participating in the Chingay precession...

SO,I followed my head until Im more stable in the head and better wait and seek advice and recommendations from all of you:P :p :P :p :P

in simple terms gfa is much better brake pad than fa

and they don take that long to warm up. the reason why most ppl don use gfa is not becose it takes too long to warm up like goldfren but becos :

1st the price

2nd the gfa wil toast yr stock rotors..

simple enough :giddy:

seriously i used to own a whte car.. every week need to wax... otherwse it will look yellow.. new bike still ok .. after some time it will start to turn yellowish

Bingo pinetreetmh!!

Yellowing of white paint is inevitable, & highly dependant on UV exposure i.e. sunlight & years to come. Same for all other colors, which deteriorate in the form of color fade.

Apart from the harsh elements from our equatorial region, the process, input & quality of paint (%-tage composition, harderner, spray environment etcetc) greatly decides the color fade/yellowing phenomena.

As an ex-fleet of R&D engineer (low-paid :giddy: ) from a Jap company, the appearance section of QC stage (yes, paint quality) usually gives me extra OT. Since coatings can provide a high corrosion resistance through the intended life of the part in use, it is necessary to check corrosion resistance by other means. The following are stringent checks per lot, by accelerated corrosion test that produces a corrosive attack to the coated samples in order to predict its suitability in use as a protective finish:

1. Salt Spray Test (ASS) - check corrosion resistance of coated sample

2. CASS (acetic acid with copper chloride)

3. Peel Test - determination of the peel strength of an adhesive.

4. Cross Cut Test - method for assessing the resistance of paint coatings to separation from substrates when a right-angle lattice pattern is cut into the coating, penetrating through to the substrate.

5. Weather test - cyclic test of the light exposure of specified concentration under specified duration.

Which local jobs dos that? What you pay is what you get.

All simulated to at least 5 years of consumer usage.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can show you a sample of OEM white color quality paintjob VS a local spray job. 1 year & the yellowing to obvious. Tank bra makes yellowing more obvious on white as the part covered does not get even tone with the uncovered part.

My near 2.5 year mid-cc bike with OEM paintwork is yellow free so far. My resprayed van is not...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My personal experience on 2 white vehicles... Hope it helps.

1. If its a bike, cover it wherever you park (reduces yellowing uniformly & any potential theft). Not a big hassle, but substantially cheaper & less time consuming than grooming.

2. car/van... groom it often. Its pretty hard to cover them.

Keep your OEM white alive as you possibly can. For me, just a little more hassle/work to enjoy the sheer joy of a white vehicle.. :thumb:

Thank You.

That explains why my white, old WR200 was still yellowish despite tremendous efforts of polishing, waxing, etc, etc... :cheeky: . The current owner eventually sprayed it black.

BTW, how much does the race-shield for a K6 Hayabusa cost (inclusive of labour charges)?

Thanks HYB80Y for the intensive advise.. will keep that in mind though not sure how sealant treatment works??

Few recommendations requested:

Chain Lube : wax/grease or Lube or Foam or ??

sealant treatment is a coating that seals your LACQUER and not just your paint. when our bikes comes out from the factory, the paintwork are sealed with a high quality lacquer which protects the paint. as time goes by, the lacquer's condition will deteriorate with washing and weathering. thus, losing its shine and protection on the paintwork. giving your bike sealant treatment is protecting the protection of your paintwork. not only does sealant protects, it gives a lasting shine and prevents dirt, grease and dust from sticking onto the lacquer. it is also easy to clean dirt off with sealant treatment. i have sealant treatment for my bike 3 times already. done at a professional place with good quality. i guarantee you, my paintwork looks as good as new even it has been 2 years. :thumb:

Chain Lube

IMO, no wax as it sticks onto your chain, making it difficult to clean. worse, it sticks all the dirt and grim onto your chain. its better to use lube. get a good one which will not cause flicking. the best is, get Scottoiler. i had mine installed. very happy with it. after 35000km, my chain and sprocket is still in very good conditions. furthermore, you save headache of having to lube the chain yourself. common misconceptions are that Scottoiler is very dirty as the oil is flicking all over. there's a simple solution to this. i have Scottoiler and i do not have ugly flick stains. offer me kopi together and i can share my ideas with you.
