was pumping petrol, the trigger was damn hard so i pressed it with force and woooosh, my tank was bathed in ron 95. did the mistake of not pouring water to displace the petrol from the tank and left it like that. now white/grey splotches appear on where the petrol was sprayed and its damn ugly.

anyone can share how to minimize the obviousness of the spoilt paint? maybe applying rubbing compound can help?

Maybe you can try to use wax to polish the tank. Try to use those cake style wax as they are usually more abrasive. I don't think the liquid wax is that effective.

Try polishing. Try lacquering if self spray will help imo.. In any case just wash it off whenever any part kana petrol.. don't rub it with force..
