Fellow Bros

Really need advises from many of u. First let me explain the incident.

Last Sat 1230 I was collided with a Corolla Altis at the junction along Jln Basar X Lavender St. While I moved off at the traffic (GREEN) light towards Balestier directions. An SGA plate Altis beat the red light while making a right turn and bang directly to my right side and flung me off my FY Shadow Ace. I was then got up with my feet and luckily only a deep cut on my right heel and bruises all over my body.

My Bike was not seriously damage, thanks to my Crash bar and boxes and wing rack to took on most of the impact and I escape alive.

Later I was sent to TTSH received 7 stitches and discharged at the same day with 14days MC. Before I went home my wife drove me to TPHQ report to IO and the IO told me they will put on charge on the driver as a traffic camera at the junction caught him in action.

And now I am resting at home, my bike now in the bike shop waiting to file a claim against the driver.

Wanna to seek advises from senior bikers on the procedures and what to look for during the process of claim against other party… do I need to engage a lawyer to represent me for the claim?

Pls enlighten me thx a million

actually since u are injured, the TP would be involved and the insirance companies would fight among themselves but in this case, i don't think the other party would bother putting up a fight since they're clearly at fault. so just wait for your claim to come lor... if u wanna claim for mental trauma and hardship u and your family had to go thru all then i guess u have to engage a lawyer..

It's your damn bike, wash it yourself! You rinse your own mouth after you eat, don't you?

Bro, Thanks for your advise hmm... why i think of engaging a lawyer to sue the fellow actully not really concren of how much they will compensate me but want him to feel a bit more pain in his pocket and be more alert in the future. Just addition on that incident, before he hit hard on me, he have no intention to brake his car until he cause i and my bike somersault then he brake. I was damn angry at first and questioned him why he never brake. He only look at me speechless.

hi chueng99

understand your feelings here, i am not really lao jiao, but i do kana accident myself before, though its a minor one (no report filed, settled on the spot, but still suffer some minor injuries)

anyway, i had been through the whole procedure of an accident that happen to my friend who also end up in hospital having stiches, see how much i could recall:

1.

You had been hit, while you are in hospital under treatment, you bike had already been tow by TP to 'warehouse' where they store all the buang cars, lorries, bikes, etc. TP will contact you about final statement and collection of bike. 'Warehouse' will be in front of Air Force School (Ubi). Unless, on the spot, you already got your bikeshop guys to tow for you, then no need to go there.

2.

In the hospital, all bills you had paid, keep them for claim. In the bike shop, cannot repair first, must again tow bike to IDAC for damage assessment, so that bike shop won't anyhow repair and quote high prices. Fair to owner and insurance companies.

3.

After assessment, repair for bike starts in bikeshop. Meanwhile, during the first step, i believe TP had already provided to you some information about the 'hitter'. You might need to contact your insurance agent about this incident and provide the 'hitter' info so that claims from the other party could be sort out between the 2 insurance companies.

4.

At this point, you are almost done already, bike should be repaired, agent would contact you about the claim status..

Lastly, if you wanna teach the guy a lesson by putting more pain in his pocket, i not really sure about that.... because going thru the above 4 steps, all parties had already completed the official compensation and closure procedures. Engaging a lawyer is like appealling for more compensation due other factors (trauma, stress, family restrains) to me, you could try that, pls let us know if it is feasible.

anyway, this is an accident,

the driver did not brake maybe because everything happens too fast, he might be concentrating on beating the red light, by the time he hit you, you and you bike already flung, then his reaction will be braking at this moment only. That might be what happen, since he look at your speechless at that time, he himself may already be in shock and remorseful, so he doesn't really meant to be that 'un-careful'.

saying so because i am a driver and rider myself for the past years. so cool down man, as long you are alive in one piece, you got your claims, let's move on.

You may be suing him, but in effect you are suing his insurer. Unless he was driving under the influence of alcohol. So I don't think his pocket will hurt.

It was an accident, just claim whatever you are entitled.

I saw the accident moment after it happened, in fact I saw u using yr HP camera to take that pixs.

I thought you must be seriously injurt but good to know that you are OK :)

Being a safe rider might not 100% prevent us from accident. I always feel other road user play a part.
