** EDIT **

PM me if you want to know the story.

I got a note from the admin, and the thread title has also been changed, there is no point keeping this thread.

"Defamation" is still a big ghost around me.

come to think about it... I don't really have experience with bike shops here.. are they all like this? Is this common about these bike shops anywhere in Singapore? Two in a row surely tells me something.

It's not about the power or speed or how fast your ride goes but the time & effort spent to achieve something different

Every shop should using that cap as they need to bid for you coe.. Who knows the coe next wednesday is much lower than this week.. (i certainly hope so too)

But just call all bike shop and ask them to qoute inclusive of the 1200 coe.. then all would be great for you..

The thing is, I already said this morning on the phone that I'm coming to get the bike today, and I bring cash - full cash! I really made sure it's final price as I had to know how much cash I should bring. I thought when I asked "including COE", surely means including COE price as today?

I am not sure if you can buy a bike straight away today and get today as the paper work will cost you some time and they need to bid for coe no matter what. Perhaps you should call them and ask the questions more in depth.. Ask all in how much and how much coe you charging me then you calculate yourself.. I often ask bikeshop otr price, coe price they charging, interest rate and insurance.. then i calculate worst case senario. If looks good in my pocket then i buy lor..

I already did it, I even asked COE March or April, as refer to last week or coming week. I also asked, you have the COE or not - they said yes and just need to do transfer, there is transfer fee as well that I knew before I went down to the shop. I didn't expect to be on new bike today, but I expected to sign the papers and close the deal - I made it clear to the both shops when I called before I went there.

actually all shop will have their own tactic of hidden price even though they offer good price... when i bought my bike last few mth...also the same... so i choose the one dat dun pressure me into buying...n give me good service lol...n i ask for a lot of freebies...i sat down 4 -5 hrs at the shop just to decide...they even buy me food n drink lol...

excel also told me a few times that they have the lowest prices n no-one can match them.ive yet to get my monster 696 from them so i cant judge them.

I should have known it when I tried to ask more details they said "come down to my shop and we'll talk about it"... they didn't want to talk much on the phone, at first I understood it as they have other customers so they can't talk long on phone - never expected they would ask you to come down first then play magic with price.

Btw, what shop did you go to? I also want free drink... LOL

same case with me, they actually gave me the lowest price - after my market survey - I never expected the "COE cap" trick...

Anyway, when you go there, see if they play the same trick, or perhaps you should call again confirm price breakdown before you waste your time to go there. At least you can learn from my experience.

I had a bad day today, I thought I'd be happy cos I'd have a new bike.

After calling few numbers, I got Global Motor gave the best offer, without freebies but I don't need those freebies anyway. When I called again in morning to confirm the price, this Frankie guy said "just come over and we'll talk". I went to the Autobay @ Kaki Bukit with pocket full of cash almost 7K bucks, arrived there he sat down to do the breakdown of the price, he made a call and told me "sorry, my mistake... wrong price" then quoted me another price 200 dollars more than the first price! I felt like he gave me an interesting price to get me come over first before he opens another price,.. what a waste of time, after walking under a hot sun this afternoon! So pissed off.

Then I went over to Shun Li industrial park, where Excel is, I called David from this shop before and he quoted me price slightly cheaper - yes, it was cheaper, the reason I went to Frankie at Global Motor is because my friend recommended him, I thought a few bucks more expensive is ok as long as reliable, my mistake in judging! Anyway, at Excel, it's not much different. David asked me to go up at his office and start do the breakdown, and said that the price was quoted with COE cap at $800. He explains that the cap means anythign above $800 I have to top up - means for current COE, it's another 400 bucks! WTH ? Didn't I ask for All-in price, including COE? And he never told me about the COE cap before I come. I felt like stupid today, like being lured with interesting price only to be told I have to pay more. And both of them said "No hidden cost like other shops" and I called them to make sure it's ALL-IN price. Really a waste of my time today. When I left, I said to David, "it's wasting time" he even answered me "YOU wasted your time"... WTH...

The David from Excel got ride MV Augusta is it?

i transacted with ASP n Loois before, both were straightforward n did not try to hide anything.

had a smooth and problem-free time dealing with both shops.

perhaps u can give them a call for a quote.

Posted

I called ASP too last week, too bad their price is in the higher group, perhaps that's why they can avoid playing trick - there is no need to bring up the number as they quoted final price.

Anyway, will try Looi's hopefully better luck.

If you are a serious buyer, go down and talk face to face. Not on the phone.

yes i agree.sumtimes u just wanna ask them 1st just in case they quote them a different price.but ive been lucky so far cos when i called them up,they were more than willing to answer my queries.also, some ppl dun hv much time on their hands so they arent able to go dwn to the shop.so the least they cld do is call

If I'm serious buyer, I will do market research to find the best offer, I'm not stupid ! If you are serious seller, why can't you have a standard price? It's a matter of opening your book or PC and tell.

BTW, I never pushed to get the quote on the spot, at some points I said I will call back cos they seemed busy. With those culprits above, I have more than one calls, the last call was on the morning before I go down just to confirm price has not changed since last talk.

Anyway, you sound just like them :)

if u hoping for a lower price from Looi's, their price is also on the higher side.

so dun have too high hopes.

but at least u know Mr Lee won't pull stunts with u.

Make sense, lower prices are bait for dirty tricks. Anyway, will call tomorrow to compare. I have to consider after-sales as well...
