Hi guys, I've been away from the little island for about half a decade and circumstances beyond my control means I may have to return next year. I remember that there was basically a blanket ban on all modifications back then. Have things become better since?

Are there any issues with stuff like custom/DIY tanks, subframes, lights and swapped suspensions?

There's a tip to pass inspections with a heavily modified machine and that's to send it to a reputable mechanic to handle it.

As for modifications... plenty of other things you can do without pissing off the inspection centre; ie cosmetic, storage, handlebars, suspension, etc. Oh and my favourite, air intake improvements.

When in doubt, just keep a spare part or two handy. Ideally, I'd like to own 3 exhaust pipes - one stock, second DIY tuned and third a custom/aftermarket one.

Hehe they probably never seen a drag bar before... not in textbook, not penalized! :D

probably..cos the inspector is too old to know all that! but thank you so much Mr Inspector for being so lenient even when my rear brake light was spoilt, carbon deposits almost filled up my exhaust end..

Some questions before I go around DIYing again. Looking for advice from those who have done the belowmentioned:

1. any regulations pertaining to foglights? Must they be mounted on crashbars or can they be mounted beside the headlight (like some custom Harleys?)

2. Painted windshields. I have a nice aerodynamic w/s but it's so old the lexan is at best translucent. I would paint it black and add decaling on the outside but unsure if the men in white would take exception to a cruiser with opaque windshield.

I've seen custom scooters with painted shields of similar height (chest level); I can easily look over the windshield and my bike isn't meant to be ridden hunkered down.
