it depends on the battery output.

But why do you want to put LEDs on your helmet ?

Yep most probably won't burn off RetlaW, cos the power required is very low...

But as MrQuan pointed out, one important factor is that it has to be waterproof, especially so now that it's rainy season.

Judging from the design however, looks like this problem will have to be addressed soon.. (sorry kurarensu!)

my switch is @ the front ma.. i remove the airvent switch to the nrml switch.. for the switch got 3 legs right.. u solder wif wire liao insert heat shrink in each of the tube n heat it.... so basically.. everithing u solder/connect u finish heatshrink it wif the heatshrink tube... and if not enough u can get the 2wires thickness one.. so 1wire heatshrink liao den 2wire heatshrink.. so double protection..

Haha.. thanks for sharing.

Actually UV is not bad a colour, I think it'll look nice if you go dark dark places. Best is we ride alongside each other cos you know what? Mine is blue :cheeky:

Thanks for the compliments

Actually I tried many colours and personally like UV also but I found that my violet LEDs seem to consume more current, that's why I settled for blue.

Anyway, that was my first helmet. And ever since I bought my Flip-up Full-Face I realised that open-faced helms seemed so vulnerable so I seldom ride with it.

Maybe 1 fine day I'll do something like that to my FF helmets too haha...

Just for your additional info kurarensu - couple of weeks ago a classmate of mine went out and bought a new helmet and I realised that now there are helmets that comes with lights pre-installed!

There was even a switch for "Blinking Mode"... :giddy:

So much for this innovation..... :sian:

btw how u do urs? care to share? did u remove the clear plastic thing then make? ur wires run thru the air vents? mine is wire run thru the air vents n the battery is @ the place where my LEDs are.. haha finding a better way.. btw i using the coin size 3v batt wif the battery holder..

No problem sharing, this is Hands On section mah! :thumb:

(I just don't like people take ideas from this section and make profit only)

I ran my wires through the cushions, so no risk of water short-circuit and no need to heat-shrink it. But also got water proof anyway - using glue and rubber rings.

I'm using 2 x 3V button cell (lasts longer) with battery holder and connected in parallel, just like you did.

I'm not into electronics but I noticed that red LEDs requires less current for the same amount of brightness... whereas white, blue and violet requires more power.

You driving a Jazz?

Posted

lolz.. no la.. fitjazzclub kid.. but not driving jazz.. btw means your wires u from your cushion u remove you wire it thru the shell..? for my evo rs959 the wires cant run thru the shell/cushion and the leds come out of the air vents.. so i no choice.. aha.. then where you place your battery at? then what about your switch.. btw what helmet u using ah

Oh yeah, :sorry: kurarensu I got problems using 'My Controls'. Anyway mine is ZEUS brand, dunno what model but very common one, the cheap type which they based on to make the flip-up...

If you're looking for the type with fins - the most common I see outside is Hyper helmets.

But I won't recommended you to buy that just to do lighting, what's the point - outside selling those with lights only $45+ and everything done nicely for you.

Should just get one that's good fit, comfortable and protects you well. Get a full face. :thumb:

By the way, those Hyper helmets with fin I saw, 8 out of 10 got their fins broken. You'll regret if you drop it. Also it could get hooked and break if you try to loop something over your head with your helmet on, e.g. sling bag/helmet bag.

Just for your info. Don't mean to :gun: Hyper brand... :sorry:
