learn this lesson

cos of $0,50 fuse

i spent above $300 on bike magnet coil, retifier, battery n headlight bulb

I takeover the bike from the first owner 2006 till now almost 4 years

Recently battery voltage keep droping till showing around 10 on volt meter

so i went to this shop at woodlands

he charge me $40 for dunno what brand battery

i ask him ,why so expensive?

he tell me cos this 's good wan:gun:

after 3 weeks

the battery voltage show the same problem

i went to the same shop

this time he charge the battery n check the battery

after checking

he say:got charge but this battery no good wan, cant hold the charge:gun:

fxxking toolan:mad:

so i went to another bigger shop also at woodlands

after spend above $300 on bike magnet coil, retifier, battery n headlight bulb at there(i use 55W white bulb all the while no problem, but he say cant, must use 35W)!

the voltage still cant go over 12,8 when rev hight RPM!

bikeshop say this problem cant check wan:gun:

must change the part retifier, magnet coil n.....one by one:gun:

(i know can check, but since i dunno how to check n lazy to check,i never say anything)

yesterday somemore ask me try change new wiring n magnet!:gun:

this time also :bouncefire:liao

search internet n found this fault finding diagram

borrow digital multimeter from my brother

printout/follow the charging system fault finding diagram chart

slowly check all wiring n connect point

halfway stuck at point B

but end up still can found is this fxxking 50 cents fuse weak!is weak not break)

**anothr same problem here**

i have never heard of "fuse is weak' situation.

if your stock headlight bulb is 35w, and you changed it to a 55w bulb, without modification to the stock cabling, it will overload the stock cables, and over time, its conductivity will be affected.

Did you try to measure the charging voltage with, and without the head lamp ?

Every bike has an optimum charging rpm, so it doesn't mean higher rpm means higher voltage

It is possible to have a "weak" fuse. The problem arises because there is high resistance within the fuse. One possible reason could be due to bad contacts at its terminals (within the fuse itself). Another could be the material of the fuse itself. It's suppose to blow, but it didn't and it's still conducting, although not at its maximum capacity.

Most standard charging voltage is between 13.6 and 14.8 volts DC, pending the engine rpm. If the above voltage range is detectable at variable engine speeds (that means between 1,500 and 5,000 rpm), then I believe the charging system should be okay, although it can still be a case of faulty rectifier because it's not "pumping" the current (Amperes), but only the voltage.

u r :thumb: too

i dunno all electric thing

but after change the fuse

my problem solve liao!

i know not mean higher rpm means higher voltage too

i mean rev from RPM 1.5-5

the rr should charge n volt reading must go up,right?

no modification to the stock cabling

35W headlight bulb i fix n on,voltmeter reading while riding can reach 15V(too high?abit scare)

55W headlight bulb i fix n on,voltmeter reading while riding can reach 13.9V

55W headlight bulb i fix n off, voltmeter reading while riding almost same like 15V(not really go n check)

Thanks too!

Great tips for electrical troubleshooting; thanks for posting :3

Btw, I hate electronics too. Everything should be operated by levers, taps, vacuum pumps :D

Hope this can help our biker when got this problem

dun like me,spend so much $ just because of $0,50 fuse:faint:

Look on the bright side.... at least u have brand new bike magnet coil, retifier, battery n headlight bulb.

No need to change them for a while......

yes,i got think like that

just post here to let ppl know n learn!

b4 repair

i got 2 spare magnet coil n 2 spare retifier take dw from scrap bike in working condition

and they dare to say (plus my bike) totai 3 magnet coil and 3 retifier spoilt at the same time

this really make me want to laugh or want to cry????:p

the first shop at woodland JTC

aleast know how to check the rectifier got out put charging

only battery cant hold the charge

the second shop at woodlands sembawang, really got no skill or want to chop ppl
