Hello friends! i need your answer with my question. Hopefully people out there can willing to spend abit of your time to clear my doubt.(:

1) im thinking which bike to get now. phantom or scramble? cos i will be riding for 1 year and change to 2A bike. plus im 1.9m tall, do you think phantom suits me?

2) if i buy bike from stranger(sgbikemart.com), will i need to buy insurance for myself or share/use the seller insurance?(sorry i know nothing about the bike insurance) can explain me more how the insurance work?

3) hope i can make new friends here in this bike forums that can guide me more about bike!(cause my clique all took car license and none of them took bike license and they usually talk about car stuff)

Thank you!(:

bro, no one should advise u on which bike u should get ... what u can do is weigh the pros and cons of each individual model and u decide which u will feel most comfortable with ....

it is u who is going to see the bike everyday and ride is as well ... go through the thought process wisely and hope u get the right bike ...

if u r buying the bike over from A, u will need to purchase insurance b4 the transfer of ownership is done ... after u have bought ur insurance, u and the seller can both go down to LTA to transfer the ownership of the bike ...

do note that it is the norm for the buyer to pay for the transfer fees ... and after transfer dunt forget to buy season parking ...

hope this helps for now bro ...

1. What your budget? And what you prefer riding? Phantom is very reliable (if well looked after) bike... cheap also since everywhere also have. Scrambler must see what scrambler first.... usually not cheap. Get a cheap phantom and run around first if you really wan change 2A, don't buy so expensive bike since you going to change anyway.

2. Buy your own insurance in order to transfer bike.

3. Ok.

1 - yeah, why not. phantom is a good and reliable bike. afterall, you are going to upgrade to 2a, so dont bother to get a very expensive bike.

2- you need to get yourself insurance. it's very easy. either you go to the seller's bike shop to do it or your preferred bikeshop. this applies to transferring of ownership too. then both of you save a trip to LTA. but this of course cost a nominal fee.

3- okay.

Ans : For this question, just wanna ask you which type of bikes do you prefer to ride?? sports bike... cruisers... street bikes etc... all has got different ridin posture and style... as most 2b, comes to maintainance i dun tink its much different....

2) if i buy bike from stranger(sgbikemart.com), will i need to buy insurance for myself or share/use the seller insurance?(sorry i know nothing about the bike insurance) can explain me more how the insurance work?

Ans : For insurance, if you are doing a COI (continue on installments), it depends on how many months of the owner's insurance have got left... be it a COI or full ownership, you will need an insurance in order to ride on the road... same for car... just that for bike, the insurance is not being shared... you can only sub-ride the owner's insurance, meaning if the insurance of the bike is under your name, your friends who has got 2b licenses will not be allowed to ride the bike unless they are sub-riders of the bike...

NOTE : for COI, there must be trust between you and the seller as when you purchase the bike, you must continue the installment for him, meanin he still has the ownership of the bike... if you do not pay the installment, he will be in trouble... same goes to you.. if you complete the installment, the seller still is able to ride the bike... and if he doesn't transfer the full ownership to you, he can just ride the bike away... meaning you paid the installment for him, but bike is not yours....

if you are having full ownership of the bike, you have to prepare a ownership transfer of the bike which normally costs below $50 and the insurance, depending on which bike it is... and there you go, you will be allowed to ride the bike...

Ans : haha... make friends isn't much of a problem down here... just join the bike communities forums once you gotten your bike... can even ask the lao jiaos for guidance on maintaining and repairs of the bike in case you get carrot by bike shops... ^^

Thank you!(:

If want both Phantom big-wheeled fun and scrambler-like capability, take a look at bikes such as TW200.

IMO I'm 6 ft 4 ++ and without a suitably large and aerodynamic windshield on the Phantom, I look a bit silly sitting straight up like a giant airbrake.

Cafe racer mod is tempting cos I like to lean forward.
