Advice needed on collision with a taxi.

I was on the way back from my duty at YOG as an ns men at 5am on sunday morning when I was filtering out to ECP and met with an extremely what-seems to me SMALL accident.

 

I turned around to check and noted that the taxi was far distance away, and even my friend on pillion agreed so.

Suddenly as I was turning out, he hit my friend's leg of which caused my right feet supporter to bend and the taxi's left side mirror and remote cable was slightly broken. My friend was of course traumatised but recovered the next day.

 

We agreed to settle this matter outside as I dont have much of an income, now that i'm in ns.

 

The taxi driver didnt contact me until I contact him today morning. there was a reply from him saying that his maintenance team said the cost of repair is SGD1000?!

 

This is really ridiculous.How can that be the cost of a minor mirror and remote cable damage and what should I do? What if he were the one going at a high speed?

 

I really need advice on this ASAP.

He's trying to claim for other stuff as well. Better be sure when he makes a claim against you. You have to be very cautious.

In theory, you are in the wrong as you are from the small road and he is on the main road. There is no speed measuring device to say the taxi is speeding. Therefore you can only suck thumb. The claim may include the lose of income and taxi rental charges.

I believe both of you have inspected on the spot where are the damages right? If yes, based on these areas of repairs, find out the cost of repairs from a car repair shop. Find out the worst case.

 

Once you find out the cost, go negotiate with him. Since he's willing to settle privately, he should be a reasonable ppl to deal with.

u should have taken pictures bro. he may wanna cheat and add other expense. i ever once hit a van from behind. all the repair cost is ok but wen he put his loss of income to be 400 a day i was shock. he sends newspaper n earn 400 a day? outrageous. negotiate wit the taxi driver..

 

some bros told me if taxi collided u they may plead or even wont admit. but wen u collided wit them cialat. their insurance claim alot
