thankx for the info guys.. i brought my gilera frm the bike shop at the front of Botak's shop. i like wanna go and ask botak to look at my bike.. but like paiseh lah.. hahahaha..

Btw, I have a problem with my gilera, I just changed both my front and rear break pads. the first few days it was ok, but then i started to make this screeching sound whenever I break..Hope to get a response from the guru's..lol

Hi guys am thinking about getting a Runner want to ask for your advice. Saw alot of posts complain that water get into fuel tank... how to prevent this kind of problem ah? Damn sian if water go in then engine stall manz... how u all solve it?

mdnoor> some pads tend to have that screeching sound. used ebc before, change it within 2 days cos of the sound.. then tried malossi.. ok liow. but then now i use malossi oso got that sound.. so changing it will not make any sense to me. so since my werkplace haf some cleaner, i just spray them and blow off with air gun.. and the noise will be gone................. for abt 3 days.

 

175> sumhow when i was @ my mech palce .. there were 2 bikes with water in tank prob.. both st200 one with tank cover and 1 w/out. the 1 w/out has abt 100 ml of water.. lol. so i guess use the acrylic tank cover if u wanna purchase a gilera, won't get rid of the prob, but at least can minimise. i dun haf that problem tho.. coming to 4 years.

made a trip down to botak today. wanted to do engine mounting thinking it was $140 range. but botak quoted $240. -.-" any bro noe why?

 

is it only the 2 shaft and 4 pin bearing cost $140? cos botak said he will modify something den every 2 mth jus gota pump some grease. need some clarification. im confused with the big price difference.

I was looking through phantom knights thread and i realise they have this particular thread with pricing for all de typical mods and repairs.

 

Since runners have so many things to mod(outlook/interior) and some common problems e.g water pump, i was thinking it will be nice to have a similar thread for newbies like me to refer to.

 

Do u guys think this is practical? cos i understand runners have a few different models? Maybe the old birds can contribute! cheers.

 

Prices are for 4stokes model, unless stated otherwise.

 

Repairs

 

Water pump $240

Brake pads $18 per pair

Bleeding+brake fluid $20(front and back)

Engine mounting $130-$140

signal switch $15

Magnetic coil

Full service - varies($170 and above depending on parts used.)

**Steering cone ???

 

Cosmetic mods

 

Short windscreen $35

Re-mount IU unit(inside front cover) $25 (highly recommended to diy, very simple)

Remount rear number plate $15

water pump can be change at sunrise, taihin, future scootering or scootwerkz(alai) located at kallang ave..

For price wise u have to check it urself..

what happen to your exhaust header?

My Runner 180 cant start :

 

Shop boss says (KENG HOCK Motor- 594 Geylang Rd Lor 33)

- most prob change "dian ban" & motor coil

- not sparkplug prob

 

Btw, Cant start bike, hw its related to Magnetic coil & bike "dian ban" CDI?

 

Also price check for :

- "dian ban" (CDI la LoL, thks Lucius)

- magnetic coil (some1 said $110)

motherboard = CDI? If It's CDI then its at least 200+

It's related because if your coil is gone, there wont be a circuit to generate your 12v battery power into the massive voltage which ignite your engine into life. Magnetic Coil generally cost between 100 to 120, though the labour fees always push the service price up. and Coolant will leak if you are replacing your magnetic Coil so be aware that you might need extra coolant as well. If i'm not mistaken a worn out magnetic coil usually kill the battery as bike requires electricity to move, the coil is not generating any for the battery so the bike is living off solely on the battery remaining capacity so do take note you might also need to replace the battery. Ask them to check the battery voltage.

 

total damage for you could range around 5xx for the New CDI, Coil, Coolant, Battery. Ride safe.

Btw did my magnetic coil @ Keng Hock Motor (Lor 33 Geylang)

Tech says CDI is ok, changed Magnetic coil only @ $170

 

But thing is, when i rch shop next morning (left overnite)

- coil is already done.

- req to chk coil, Tech say "troublesome" "confm gd one"

- shop "dun take NETs", paid cash

- ask4 receipt, says "recpt book not in shop ",

come another day for it

 

Feel uneasy now, many doubts w/ me, scare they play punk.

 

1st thing, how to chk if magnetic coil is New??

 

Any advice?

There's no easy way to this kind of situation, considering that changing coil only takes at most an hour and half including testing, you shouldn't had left it overnight but regardless since its done all you can is put your trust in the hand of the people who accepted your money. Anyway a new magnetic coil will look copper bronze in color. Check your coolant level as well if you didn't change your coolant.
