Hi guys, am wondering which 1 should i get? spark,x1r,125z or rxz? whats the diff in terms of maintenance/mods/pricing?(Am planning to get secondhand)

Iam also quite tall (1.9+m) so Iam trying to find a bike that is affordable and suits me:cheeky:

Just getting the bike for transport

some told me to get rxz while others cubs.. Would appreciate your opinion be it good or bad :thumb:

Last but not least, what about insurance? which is cheaper?(19year old p plate)

I would recommend you the X1-R over the other two. Let's just run through the pros and cons of each model (feel free to add on, if you've owned or rode these Yamahas)

Y125Z

Pros:

Damned fun, because the bike weight is almost nothing. 200+ horsepower / ton.

Very easy to handle, it can cruise comfortably and safety in all-weather conditions, and when poked with a stick, very good sporting performance if you get a chance to play in safety without endangering people.

Can be made to have low consumption, 39km/l and 1 litre of 2T every month

Can put box, sleeper looks cos people think it's a cheap slow Malaysian cub. Yeah right.

Cons:

Nice to look at... when you don't sit on it. When you do sit on it you look like riding on a stick. So tiny!

Bad efficiency and smoky if not tuned right... like when I first got from shop years ago as my first bike.

Backside pain after 1 hour riding cos you and I are American sized.

Reliablity may be questionable. Had to overhaul every 18 months.

RXZ

It's bigger, has all the same 2 stroke lightweight fun, and is possibly nicer in the long term as you tend to appreciate a bigger bike more, especially given your height.

It's easy to customise and inexpensive - go JB for everything.

But it's very common and for posing, not too fantastic.

Now check out the X1R's 21st century technology:

X1R:

4 stroke - low consumption, no 2T, cheaper insurance.

"DIASIL" specially engineered shaped piston delivers superior performance over normal engine designs. It's quite loud and great performance for a 4 stroke.

It has "alien" type looks, which tends to turn heads more, even when stock.

Since it is a 'new type' bike, its handling and reliability should be superior to the other two contenders here. Expect hassle free riding; Yamaha is VERY good at their cubs, especially Y125Z, and I can safely say X1R is even better.

You may not have a very high horsepower to take you and your pillion down the highway at 160kph, but you have a wider powerband from the 4 stroke and this makes you faster in start-stop traffic.

I don't know a lot of X1R riders so the above is actually what I know from technical specifications I've read and general 2 stroke vs 4 stroke experience so I will leave the discussion open.

One thing is.. all those bikes are low maintenance and parts can easily get over da borders..

i am riding spark, owned a 125z for a while b4, tried x1r and rxz..

125z is good.. really fast on the straights and take corners well if ur suspension is in good condition. spare parts are all cheap in msia. Con is the small tank la, 2 stroke engine and small tank is a bad combo..

spark is 4 stroke, fast on the straights and can take corner as well.. lots of accessories to bling ur bike.

x1r i would sae x1r is the 4 stroke equal to 125z.. i kinda regret taking spark instead of x1r. cuz stock condition x1r is so much better. two pot front brake caliper, rear disc brake, clipper handlebar like sportsbike.. other den dat, same as spark. Same engine and frame.. u can even change a spark coverset to look exactly lik a x1r.. dats how close dey r haha..

rxz.. dun lik hw dey handle so i dun really lik riding em. but tis is juz a personal opinion, as u can see dey are alot of rxz's on e roads. so it's a good bike.

Conclusion: If ur using juz for transport, go w/ 125z. U wun regret it, super fun bike. If ur planning to werk despatch where u wanna conserve fuel, go w x1r.

hmm, i gt my bike at ASphoon, FBC plate abt 3.8k after insurance, ur 19 rite? Standby the insurance gonna shock u coz i paid 1023 for insurance alone...haha, bt afta purchasing no regrets at all cuz it fulfills my daily nd as a cheap transport. Lots of my frens are riding sparks as their 2nd bike too, both spark n x1r are great bikes to begin wit. N klau takot kene chop kat kedai bring someone more experience to do the talking. Watever cost they say, u calculate urself and compare to their calculation. Anitinl xtra u ask wat u are paying for...and when in doubt ask. Even if its a stupid question. And oso inspect the bike coz when i bought the bike it had questionable scratches mcm skidded b4. Dont rush into buyin do research first, ask the riders of the bikes u keen to buy. Get their input oso. Mine might be abit biased towards my bike la...anytink can pm me oso. Cheers! Happy hunting!

yeah, if i thought of getting a spark too, but the shop i bought from said, x1r is like 200-300 bucks more than a spark, so why not? besides, x1r has the normal bike gear ratio, whereas spark has it inverted.

but your freaking tall, 1.9m, you should try sitting on a cub first and see if its comfortable enough before considering to buy.

I'm a ex-X-1R ryder, personally its a easy going bike... decent pick up but IMPOV its a struggle to pillion a adult cause its Max load is 110KG two adult easily over load the vehicle. But riding alone is damn fun... with your height you might find it awkward riding a kup, like the other member mention try pop in a kup and feel if its comfortable. Insurance is another problem for you since u're 19 yrs old with P-plate, don't be surprise that riding a kup insurance can cost up to 1,000++ much more expensive than my ride. I have another recommendation is Yamaha FZ150i... might fit your bill too.

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

Sin Ming Editor got 1 DAY jailterm and $2000 fine for pillion death!

yeah insurance is gonna cost a bomb. if your going to get a 1st hand x1r, you gotta get the fire & theft insurance or second party. personally mine costed me 1250. no kidding. soo gonna change to AXA after my ntuc insurance expires.

but please consider sitting on a kup first. fz150i is ideal for your height. im 1.74cm tall, and personally i already look funny on a kup. just my opinion :thumb:

X1r no regret. I just bought one 5.9k cash on the road with free givi 48 liter box. Changed to 110 rear bridgestone tyres and front 80 brightstone tyres with sports rim at 300. Shiok cornering stability and great FC. Insurance free also. After that renew every year only 300+. Cheap and good. Not that fast although compared to 2A bikes.

First hand. Anyway also more or less same price. I didn't bother to ask other bike shop cos the bike shop I regularly patronize since my 2B days. I don't think can say where, don't want to advertise for them. Now Coe is 1.5k so bike more ex. half year ago same bike only cost 5.5k. Now due to Coe so increase. I think the cheapest u can get now should be at most 2-300 cheaper max.
