Is there such thing "RECONDITION I.U UNIT"?

I accompany a friend of mine to get fixed a brand new slim IU unit at lavender street(The shop specialised fixing and installing I.U) beside a bird shop. Few months later, the IU was malfunction.

 

My friend still unnotice that the IU was faulty till letter of summon from LTA. My friend appeal to LTA coz did not realise that the IU was faulty.

 

The best part was, when my friend went to VICOM to rectify the IU unit, found out that the IU was a recondition set. The inspector indicate that it is illegal to use it.

 

Luckily the inspector from VICOM will wrote a letter of appeal for my friend to waive off the fine.

 

I'm flabergasted that there is such thing of recondition IU unit. (To add one it is a new SLIM IU unit hahahaha!!! How come it is a recondition IU Unit??? Strange??!!)

 

So guys, advice me accordingly what is the next step to do?

i changed many slim ius already... luckily its still under warranty

no1 knows y they keep malfunctioning, but they do

1.why your friend never went to vicom to purchase a brand new IU wtth warranty?

price is 150sgd +gst.payment with cash.free install if im not wrong.

 

2.if the item is brand new,go claim from the shop

 

3.recondition IU-i think is a 2nd hand IU.from old bikes

 

4.the inspector say is illegal because the IU is not register onto your friend bike.

normally the shops dong IU will do to the transfer of IU paperwork for the new owner.

possible to have faulty slim ius now

 

i've returned quite a few slim ius... they kept screwing up on me

luckily got warranty
