Hi! Helping to ask:

I've a 7+yrs super4 spec2. The problem is, after travelling for a short journey, the bike engine dies off as if the petrol is not going into the carburettor or the carb is not feeding fuel into the cylinders. I rev the throttle but there's ...no effect. The engine dies off. I tried opening the fuel tank cover thinking it could be airlock and after a few minutes wait, the bike can be re started again and I can continue my journey. This problem recurred after more than 6months(it's happening quite often before) until I changed my radiator water pump fan. The engine dying off while riding eliminated until two days ago when I changed new spark plugs. Please help with this problem. Thanks! :(

since changing spark plugs caused this problem???

then i would suggest you start from here and verify all spark plugs are good...better still use the old spark plugs to confirm...

check for high tension leakages and the ignition system..to confirm that the problem ...

old bikes...have you replaced the sparkplugs caps before...this is a common problem..leaking cap..

Suspect your bike overheat or the coolant temp sensor fault hence sending wrong signal to your ECU to cut off the engine. Your spark plug may play a part since you have mentioned the problem reoccur more frequent, check if its the correct type and heat range. If you buy the plugs from unknown source, the quality is also questionable. As what ezzy suggested check your spark plug coil ensure the condition and connection of your coil is good.

Always start from the cheaper and easier solution and slowly work towards the root cause.

there is a lot of reason why bike stalls...

ranging from overheatig,= low coolant, bad fan/ sensor, insufficient eo ..as mentioned wrong type spark plugs.

fuel/intake..no fuel to bad fuel/dirty contaminated fuel..even fuel that is not been used for a long time can go bad too.....choke air fiter

ignition system components failure..

etc etc..

anyway good luck to your trobleshooting..

i had the same problem... although it wasn't on a super4.... slowly start to troubleshoot from carb>breather rubber hoses of carb>air filter and finally.... after changing plug head, plug coil and spark plug the problem is solved.

But Hyper VTEC SPEC2 doesn't comes with ECM, its still carb operated machine.

I did came across similar problem before, while riding the electric of my bike cut off and I have to roll the vehicle to the side of the road. When moving off, starting the bike it would restart itself after which I get it to the shop and after diagnostic they found that my bike grounding was poor. After it was done the problem didn't surfaced.

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

If its not the ECU then its CDI for carb operated bike. There can be other interlocks to look out for beside the over temp swtich which can cut off the engine i.e side stand switch, clutch switch(suzuki bikes), oil pressure switch etc.
