Was looking at S3 125 and was told servicing at 2,000km and 10,000km. it seems quite freequent... how much will the servicing cost?

And how to tell if they arre Gen 1?? saw one reg Dec 2010 and another Sep 2011.

Just to share some of my exp on S3

I got the gen 1 bike and the rear arm and brake calipers got design issue. If you hear rattling sound pls pay attention to the rear brake aseembly. The thread on the arm worn out due to vibration and the whole arm and brake assembly need to be replaced. Damage was 600+ so better check this frequently for gen 1 owners.

The new brake calliper got internal rusting due to torn rubber bushing. The whole thing got jammed up. Got it fixed in msia. If need to change the calipers den another 200+. Currently still hanging on to it but there's some rattling noise when riding past 70km/h

If you mount top box and parked under direct sun not protected. Check the bottom rack assembly. Mine cracked and gave way. Probably due to heavy load too. Replacing with OEM bracket cost abt 120. The non OEM metal rack cost 95. It doesn't look good but looks much more durable from the stock plastic bracket.

The good thing abt the scoot is the FC is good. Has been doing consistenly ard 34km/l.

Hope this info can help some owners here.

I do my servicing every 3000km for EO change. Belt and weights every 12000km. 2000km and 10000km is manufacturer recommended.

Gen 1 S3 has the rear brake caliper at 7 o'clock position while Gen 2 S3 rear brake caliper is at 12 o'clock position. But Gen 1 can also be fitted with the new caliper design. Maybe others got another way of telling which gen it it.

They seems to know it. Coz when I brought in my bike they told me the new design will now have this issue.

FBE plate should be Gen 1. Just use your hand can give the rear caliper a few shakes to see if its firm to see if its faulty.

I guess the key is frequent self checks. But I didn't carry out..

Does CKA know abt this rear brake issue? and are they rectifying this??

Will frequent checks help in preventing the need to change the whole arm and brake?

I think so. Coz once the screw starts to become loose and you tighten it back then it won't actually vibrate so much to have caused the thread to wear out.

Just my opinion.

Just book a 2nd hand s3 125 but needs to change tyres. Any recommendations on tyres and shop?

Congrats! Enjoy ur ride. Tyres u can go back to CKA for the original tyres. Front tyre should be available in most shops but the rear size is quite odd. Chances are you may get 130/60 instead of 130/70.

I got mine changes in JB. Shop near JB customs. RM230 for both. The brand is Duro. Been using it for close to 6 months and grip is enough for me. Note: rear tyre is 130/60.

I just ordered my S3 advance 250cc. Price is $9900. Class one insurance is $471. Trade off my daystar 125cc. Will get my bike within these two days. Roy told me that very soon they will only sell the machine price. The Coe will base on that month. Now the Coe is $3500. Siao. Roy told me my s3 is old Coe price.

He give me a free air horn, modify the headlight switch, free two helmet, one free box and one bike cover.

Was actually looking for 2nd hand 250 but the one on sale is very expensive... so took the 125. Believe the 250 is the right engine size for this bike. 125 can feel the bike dragging when moving off

I tired 92 for 2 tanks. Power is lacking and becomes a pain to ride. Might end up using more fuel if u have a pillion.

Thinking of changing the head lamp to white light. Saw a seller here selling a Japanese brand 6000k bulb for a pair, I only need 1 piece, anyone interested to change as well?

Could be the starter switch.

I park in open carpark at work and during raining season water seep in to the ignition switch causing issues with the contacts in the switch. You can try to spray some WD40 to see if it help. I got my switch changed entirely.

I just did the transfer of the S3 over to me yesterday, and this morning the bike couldn't start. Not a pretty way to start my 2nd day with this beautiful bike.

While viewing the bike, the bike could start fine, could ride fine. Yesterday after pickup the bike, i could ride it home all the way no issues.

But this morning it refused to start. The starter was cranking, and it sounded like puffs were coming out the exhaust. The "Check" light was flashing. After 10 minutes it finally started to life.

Within riding for 5 minutes, the bike just stalled while travelling. Electricals all ok, all lights ok, starter still cranking... but same thing it just refuses to start.

Suspect its a fouled plug (hopefully) but i didn't have time to sort it out then and there. Will send it to a nearby shop later this afternoon.

Sitting on my hands... Must... Not... Rebutt...!! ARGH~!@
