I know elsewhere for $200 bucks they will not service your clutch. Botak will and that is part of his jobscope for full servicing. AND that is the most time consuming part. I have witness numerous occasions guys bringing their bikes to Botak after full servicing @ elsewhere, because 'bike still jerky moving off from standstill'. Guess what is usual problem?

 

Like many have mentioned, Botak fixes small problems for free sometimes.

Wat kinda windshield are u looking for? Stock or aftermarket ones?

Stock one i know Taihin got a stock one which he claim is new, but looks very yellowish with age.

to be honest, i went to botak few times, and i saw him use engine oil from some car engine oil (4 little type) and you not really get the real bottle type. when you change engine oil, u never see him open new bottle of engine oil, so for me there is no transparency..

 

second, the full service he did didn't seems really improve much.. and i feel that his price quite expensive since he operates at back lane.

 

i know many of regular customers there, and swear he's one of the best if not the best. but is he really that good?

 

i just wan to point out some facts and hope you all can take note.. dun just believe it just because everyone says he's good.

 

of course botak helped me to fix few things before, and he claim i will get cheated if i go other shop.

i do saw him selling bottled EO to customer before.... he really did help me fixed few things for free (give me a used coolant cap for free as mine is leaking, changed my fuel hoses as mine cracked, changed my coolant hose as cracked too)

i consider myself regular liao but probably he dun really remember myself.. anyway.. now i seldom go there because of the engine oil things and mainly i dun like to squeeze into that backlane also.

well bro, you aren't wrong in stating that he using EO from a 4L bottle as he buy for cost saving purpose.... and imagine if he only use the 1L version and yet he FOC for the 0.2L on most of the bikes that need 1.2L per oil change, how much more overhead would he had to pay.... as mentioned before, he bought the EO also not cheap.....

 

As for whether he is the best around, think it's purely up to individual ..... some say AC motors is good too while some say taihin or sunrise is good.... so end of the day, u are the customer who decid who is good and who is bad.... most of the regulars who freq his shop know that he is one who will only change the parts if only really need to... if can be salvaged, he will always salvage the part.... which is a way of cost saving for owners.... as for the workmanship, his way of solving clutch slip is also unique which if u go to other shops, they may just ask u to change a new clutch bell....

 

imagine going to a shop with tranmission problem and the shop just change all the parts to new one for u as compared to him checking specifically on which is the part creating the problem.... both will solve your transmission problem but which is a better one?....

Hmmm perhaps u can roughly state what he had changed for u on the 2nd hand stuff so that u will know if it's worth the price......

 

Botak will remember customer who visit him.... and he can even go to the extent of roughly when was your last visit at his place... so i believe he never forget u

 

As for the backlane, i never squeeze through as i dun like it too... i go by the front, after the busstop up the "small" slope in front of the hardware shop and go behind....

the difference btwn him n other shop is like wat firestorm mentioned...he will try to repair the spoilt parts. my i had a part which i wanted to change. but he insisted can repair...n he did for me free. twice. im sure other shops will straight away ask me to change. but yes...his price is on the high side. guess that's the trade off. but at least u know that when ur money can b saved, he will help u save it.

yes, just that he doesn't keep spare parts for this bike. If need to replace any parts, he will have to go purchase it.
