Need help whether anyone knows where to repair the device??

You mean outside shop repair? So far never heard of people providing repair service. You can only go to the authorised IU inspection centre and let them troubleshoot. If faulty, it will be replaced with a new one. It will cost ard $150 if no more warranty.

 

I only know Kaki Bukit Vicom and Sim Ming Vicom got IU inspection center. You can go LTA website to check.

Hey Guys,

 

Just got my bike about 6 months ago and now the IU unit does not work. I passed a gantry and a letter came to me saying that I have to get it checked it in any of the inspection centres. I went down and they said my warranty expired in 2003 and I had to pay 155 dollars for a new piece. I am probably going to sell my bike in a years time to upgrade to a bigger bike.

 

So, does anyone know where I can get a reliable second hand unit to put on the bike. I know scrapyards do not sell it cause it's apparently illegal. Yes I did go down and ask them. They said that they have to destroy all the IU Units that come in.

 

I really don't want to invest 155 dollars on something that I am going to personally use for slightly less than a year.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions? Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Avoid going under the gantry when they are active, so avoid the cbd and highway when gantry are active

Btw, how long is the warranty for an IU unit?

warranty for IU is 5 years. i dont think they have any shop that repairs IU unit. Mostly just ask you go to Vicomm to replace a new one.

2nd hand also can try to fix.. But quite troublesome.. The process quite the same if you selling bike to another party.. Must transfer name and stuff...

Some say the old IU works better than the new slim one. Is it true? In what way is it better? /:

bro i gt the same tink happen to me. when i wanna to change bike my iu spoil dunno izzit becox heavy rain then i tink the whole IU spoil becox water slip through inside.. jus go find any bike shop tat scrape bike any iu tat scrape less then 6mth but comfirm tat is working ant la. then go inspect wif ur old spoil IU tat still fix on ur bike then go back bike shop or u self fix outside the inspection centre then let them inspect again if ok. jus need to pay less then $12 for the registi fee..

agrees with wInD20. I think re-using old IU from scrape bikes better than buying new one. Just need to register. Also, the techs at VICOMM said that the old IU is better than the new one coz old one more durable and new one, more fragile. So, yea. But old IU have an independent battery inside with will use up your bike's battery. So, if you have problem starting your bike after 1 week of not running your engine, might be because of the IU unit. PLUG out the wire when going away for a long time. ^.^

Scrap yards are very skeptical to sell it though.

It was at a shop along jalan besar road. It says ERP in big block letters and has a phone number at the board as well.

It is beside a bird shop.

My IU is functional but the light that shows you the credit you have inside the card is spoilt.

So I can't really see the amount inside properly, anyone knows where I can get that repaired?
