The bike is underpowered to begin with. If you feel that it is not right, bring to the bike shop to have a check.

Hi guys, i am going for TP test soon and looking to buy a Varadero 125 soon for my 1st bike. I have 3 simple qn about the bike and do hope any of the veteran here can answer it.

1) Why is it that shops jack the price up by $2k or so in comparison to buying direct from owner? Is there any significant benefit buying from shop?

2) Also which workshops are reliable and honest in repair/maintenance of the vara 125? I don't mind spending a premium and building a r/ship w workshop if they can do the work properly.

Location does not matter whether its SG or JB!

3) What is the availability for aftermarket parts (i.e. panniers, exhaust, lights, grips...etc) like?

I do apologise beforehand if i come across as rude or ignorant. 100% newbie!

1) Some people cannot afford to pay cash for the bike, so they need to go through a shop to arrange a loan. Some shops may offer something like a very limited warranty on used bikes, but I generally would say it's not worth a large price difference. If you are a total newbie, speak to a mechanic, have the seller ride the bike there, and pay for a quick bike checkup - money very well spent.

2) Bikeworkz at 10 Kaki Bukit Road 2 have a lot of experience with baby Varas, and many previous owners trusted them with their bikes.

3) Availability of aftermarket parts is not great, as the bike is no longer produced - but some things are still available - many parts are also compatible with other bikes. Also, I wouldn't spend too much money on aftermarket parts - most baby Vara owners will upgrade after they get a Class 2 license. Panniers (or a top box) are obviously very useful - hopefully your used bike will come with at least the racks / mounts. Grips are easy to find - compatible with other bikes. Lights probably too, but they are pretty useless - what are you going to do, ride at night in Malaysia? Exhausts are expensive for next to zero improvement. Spend the money on new brakes and tires, and save the rest for the next bike.

Finally got my Vara 125 from a shop . Rode it back and realise biting point is too soon, touch clutch lever and it engages.

Plus when parking difficult to find Neutral and when i tried to kick down from Neutral to 1st while holding clutch lever in, the bike died.

High beam and low beam almost same same...

I think must go back liao...

Better go back to shop or just go external mechanic since my bike already more than 10yrs old...?

Any opinions guys? Thanks in Advance! :)

I bought from Albert@ Bt.Merah bro...

I might have to replace the side panels covering the battery, left mirror, headlight bulb and cover...

Plus add on a centre stand if can be found....

Lack of Fuel gauge and/or warning light... need to aim and shoot, if u get what i mean.
