hi vara bros,

please advice me on this... I'm confused between fuel switch in Off, ON, and Reserve position

till today I've been riding in Reserve position ie ">>" = switch imagine ">>>" as the long part of the switch; its in top position please explain to me this, even when I read the manual I'm quite confused. how should I do it.

thank you.

Posted

chander_vr > bro, if the switch is in > mode, then it is in 'off'.

In order for you to ride in 'on' mode, you should be turning it anti-clockwise direction, meaning, the longer part '>>' should be pointing downwards.

If you want to switch to reserve, then you should be turning the switch in clockwise direction where the longer pointed end, >> , should be pointing upwards

I hope you understand what I mean. Ive PM you my number. Do give me a call anytime( wee hours also can)should you have any queries.

Hi Vara riders.. i'm still pondering abt shd i get a vara 125. how gd is it.. my GF dosen't wans me to upgrade to 2A..haha.. kinda sad.. i'm now riding SP but its condition very bad liao.. its either to spend few hundred bucks to do up my SP or to buy a new bike.. but so far 2B bike also limited.. all i noe is if i were to buy i'm going for 1st hand this time and gonna ride it for v long.

i kinda like the sound of those 400cc bikes.. when you trottle up the vroooooommmm is so nice.. haha.. too bad..

how the sound of vara 125? like phantom?

i find vara 125 a very outstanding bike which seldom being seen on the rd.. the price also very outstanding..haha.. so i really have to condsider v hard b4 any decisions is made. i dun wanna regret buying it. i need ur comments bro.. and if i were to buy shd i buy from boon siew? mah? or others.. pls help.

[dickchingus] personally, i feel s4 is a really really good idea...in term of the maintanence..etc.. just got to watch out for people who wanna grab the showa suspnsion... but if 2A is a dead end and u can NO way get it (altho im puzled why ur gf dont let u take....) is 2A riders more prone to accidents? i think not... then if its really no way out... then i think..

Vara125..is the one for you...its a nice bike to ride.. and NO it does not sound like phantom, under 80km/r.. you can hardly hear the engine...

most importantly.. you can put a top box and you still look good... :)

and adding side boxes only makes your bike look more fierce...

but you got to accept the *lack of power* when you got a pillian *but this is subjective..depending on the pillian weight*

v125 with out a pilian... is nice, it got the right power that i will ever need in SG roads..its right so u can easily look ahead... its posture.. is a nice up right position..and no matter how badly a vespa150 rams his first hear, vara125 can easily overtake.. *heheheheh* just tested this out...

;)

[chander_vr ] if you look at the fuel switch, you can see the engraved words... the one that you can easily read (on the outter part) is the status of the switch.. *quite hard to explain*...

like what [Keanan ] said.. when ts turn all the way down.. its in on position..

also i hope u have practised how to turn the fuel c*** when ur on the move...this is Damm critical. and can be very dangerious... if your in the 1st lane of a very busy expressway and suddenly ur out of petrol and dont know how to change to reservie..

what i did was to practise when the bike is stationary then i ride around my carpark slowly practising..

need to make some arrangements, do PM your contact. thanks.

Chander_vr >> about petrol cocks. the standard petcock has ON-OFF-RES (RESERVE). OFF is, well… off. ON takes fuel from a tube that sticks up from the petcock body into the tank.. when the fuel level goes below the top of the tube, the carb runs out of petrol until you turn on the reserve. the RES draws fuel from the bottom of the tank.

if its for the long haul, know the weakness and strength first, lest you ‘ dun wanna regret buying it ’ later. be prepared to live with one common distraction such as; no power / torque comment. once you’d already set the mind , just go for it.

IMO, beside the unique looks and riding comfort, it’s probably the best Class 2B bike for low to mid range touring at a cruising speed of 90~110km/hr. great for tourer wannabes. cyclic maintenance are simple with standard routines ( EO, sparks plug, oil filter change).
