see u getting used to the bike...

once u are really familiar u'll need not need to see the rpm or speedo anymore to change gear and know ur speed...

by only listening to the sound of the engine u'll roughly know the rpm n speed and the gear u r at...

the bike used to do 28-31km/l last time..

Al Simmons Bro how's your trip? Did you stay in Chukai?

no..

in the end i stay at kuala trengganu..

the beach at kuala trengganu is the best.....

the bad point is....almost the whole stretch of trengganu beach cannot swim...

due to the sudden dip of the beach which is very dangerous...the whole strech got sign "No Swimming" in malay that is...

Stayed at a resort which is quite cheap...got parking, swimming pool, breakfast all...kuala trengganu got a lot of place to eat...

Also ventured to Pengkalan Kubu at Kelantan...but when reach there around 8plus it was closed...the border n all the DFS market closes around 7pm...

stayed another night in KL...and also pass by Port Dickson...

i've got contacts to the Extreme Park...tried out the ATV...although for a short while it was quite fun...

we can organise a group tour there.....can play the ATV, paintball n go-kart.

pictures not out yet but once up u all can see....

it's more of a sightseeing trip for me...

total distance covered is about 2000km...

Hi folks

I rode to KL at the weekend; with my bike on 110-120 all the way, tipping the red 12k RPM, and hovering between 4 and 5 on the temp guage. All within a varaderos capability. Or so I thought. The handling was a bit wooly; when I crossed any paint on the road there was a noticable wobble and slight loss of grip.

When I got back to SGP, the rear tyre and wheel were almost too hot to touch. I couldnt get a pressure reading as the machine keep Err ing out - probably because the air in the tyre was too hot.

The rest of the bike is fine - hot where you would expect it to be. I pumped both tyres (Metzler Tourance) to 200 on Thursday.

Now with the hot tyre and wheel, it looks flat; but I assume it will lift again when the air cools.

Is it simply the engine heat blowing onto the wheel for four hours - it was pretty much riden on the red range for 4 hours. My top box was pretty heavy - maybe 10 kilos - but it didnt seem to be a problem on the way up. Nothing is touching or rubbing off the wheel.

Should I be concerned?

Thanks!

First question : Did u pump when the tyre is hot?

I believe ur tyre pressure is too low. Should pump in a bit more. If i'm not wrong it's suppose to be 33 psi which is about 220-230 kp. U should only pump lower pressure if u are going off road to get a better grip.

Another thing maybe ur tyre is too old or the markings have worn out. U shouldn't wobble or have a slight loss of grip on the white line UNLESS the road is wet then it's normal.

It's normal for the tyres to get hot.

U mentioned using tourance tyres for both. There's no size for tourance for the front wheel. I presumed u are using racetech or lazertech. The tyres have proven well all the way up to Phuket and also travel around the whole of peninsular Malaysian covering more than 2000km on each trip.

The bike is tested and proven.

I've personally ride up to n fro ranging from 11-16 hours on the road (with breaks in between). 10kg on the topbox is pretty light. I've carried as much as 30-50kg of weight on the 3 boxes although my weight is light, some of the bros here have done the same with pillion some more.

Also rode up through the red line to almost 14 RPM at 135km/h.

The bike has no problem, so no worries.

This is what the manual says with regard to tyre pressure

Quote:

Always check air pressure when your tyres are cold - When the motorcycle has at least been parked for 3 hours. If you check air pressure when your tyres are warm - when your tyres has been ridden even for a few miles - the reading will be higher than if the tyres are cold. This is normal. So do not let your air out of your tyres to match recommended cold air pressure given below. If you do so the tyres will be underinflated

Driver only

Front - 200 kPa

Rear - 200 kPa

Driver and Pillion

Front - 200 kPa

Rear - 220 kPa

Unquote

On a hot day..tyres pressure will hot.

The temperature rating is also stamped on the side walls of the tyres.

Also good to invest in a decent digital pressure gauge - I still do not trust pump station guage readings.
