Hey guys, I'm not sure if what I will say will probably stir a hornet's nest but well, I gotta open it ALL out. I'm pretty sure that most of you guys read today's Newpaper regarding an article of

"Man killed in crash at Jalan Toa Payoh. ARE OUR ROADS GETTING MORE DANGEROUS"

I'm sorry that I can't find the proper E-article and I'll be glad if someone helps post it up. Anyway, in this article, it's about a 19 year old teenager who lose control of the car, mount the kerb, mowed down two Bangladeshi workers, leaving one dead and one fighting for his life. Though the workers were in the wrong to be sitting at the kerb side but WAIT! This teenager was let out on bail after being arrested.

So, as what our newpaper articles will do, they will go about, interviewing people from places like, the National Safety Council of Singapore who conveniently blamed

"Younger drivers PROBABLY cause more fatal accidents because they tend to be more impatient or would be more prone to caving in to peer pressure and would want to show off by driving faster."

Did we miss out the fact that alot of "experienced" drivers are in fact, causing FATAL accidents too? One very good example, Taxi driverS.

Again, I quote from the Newpaper:

"Recounting several incidents where young drivers would tailgate him before 'zooming off' or weave in and out of lanes recklessly"

That phrase itself sounds very familiar too for "experienced" drivers hur?

Another quote from the Newpaper:

" If drivers with p-plate get into accidents, perhaps we can make them go for additional courses to teach them how to drive more safely"

Then shouldn't we apply them on "experienced" drivers too? I believe that driving centers WILL benefit either way.

You see, the Newpaper wrote "Are our roads getting MORE dangerous?" My quote is:

Are our DRIVERS getting more dangerous?

To end off, I quote something I found on a forum, LONG ago which tells alot about drivers:

"22 Dec `04, 5:44PM

Accidents happen can happen anythime and anywhere but its only because these people never assess their surroundings or themselves before committing it. I work in a risky industry and thru countless safety orientation courses, it goes back to assessing ,,yourself and the environment. if you know you have a jam ahead..then slow down early. if you think you are capable of lane splitting go ahead. but always have in mind what is the worst thing that can happen if something goes wrong and how you are going to mitigate. is it worth it in the first place? have i done this before? at what speed should i go..

These are the kind of questions you should ask yourself . You master this, you'll avoid creating accidents. i've been through my fair share of aaccidents and it has changed the way i ride. but some remain stone headed and continue seeking death. these are the kind of ppl you want to avoid. just my 2 cents.
